Position Summary
The Molding Tech/Tool Setter position is a non-exempt employee who reports directly to the Supervisor. This position has moderate experience who focuses on setting tool in machines, setting up work cells, minimal processing, etc.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
· Follow all Encompass Manufacturing policies for safety, quality, and productivity
· Ability to set/remove tooling from machines
· This position has completed Paulson Training, scoring a minimum of 80%
· Capable of minimal processing (starting machines, etc.)
· Review the production schedule to determine what tasks need to be completed
· Attend pre-shift meetings on time and participate as required
· Setting tools:
o Log into the MATTEC system (using your clock number)
o Load the proper job into MATTEC and set downtime category to Machine Setup
o Remove/install injection molding tools into machines
o Set up hydraulic core lines, water lines, air lines, and verify lines are secure and functional (no leaks)
o Set up hot runner controllers, water temperature control units, hot oil units, and verify they are functional
o Verify hydraulic/air cores are tested and sequenced properly
o Set/verify switches
o Ensure safety switches are set up properly
o Set up end-of-arm tooling, automation, and perform safety checks
o Setup work cells with tables and secondary equipment as required
o Change nozzle tips as required
o Clean injection molding tools after setup and prior to startup
o May be asked to “Shoot in” the tool using the Process Sheet and turn it over to production (notify the Shift Supervisor)
o Enter any scrap generated at this time into MATTEC
o Change downtime to Setup Complete
o Log out of MATTEC
o Complete the Process Journal
· Pulling tools:
o Log into MATTEC (using your clock number)
o Clean the tool, blow out water lines, and spray the tool with rust preventive
o Report any mechanical or tooling concerns to the Shift Supervisor so issues can be addressed once removed from the machine
o Log out of the MATTEC system once the tool removal process is complete
o Complete the Process Journal
· Maintain MATTEC accuracy
· Monitor supplies and report shortages so they can be replenished
· Operate forklifts and cranes in a safe manner at all times
· Do not abuse break timeframes
· Maintain a clean and organized work environment
· Complete any additional tasks requested by the Shift Supervisor (regardless if it falls under this job description)
Physical Requirements
· Work overtime as required by your manager
· Maintain exceptional attendance (not to exceed 5 points at any time)
· Sit, stand, bend, push, pull, reach, kneel, stoop, and lift continuously
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Work in an environment with many different sounds and sound levels
· Work with or around solvents, chemicals, irritants, and or potential allergens
· Work in a fast-paced, self-directed work environment with minimal supervision
· Potentially work in close proximities of others
Technical Skills/Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Ability to read and write using the English language
· Effectively communicate in oral and written form with colleagues and external parties
· Responsible, organized, and capable of multi-tasking
