Full Job Description

CNC Lathe Programmer

Pay: $29.00–$34.00 per hour

Position Summary

Mid-South Machine is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Programmer and CNC Mill Programmer to join our machining team. This is a hands-on position in a job shop environment requiring the ability to independently program, set up, and machine a wide variety of precision components. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys challenging work, and takes pride in producing high-quality parts.

Schedule & Work Environment

Full-time, on-site position
Day shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
Overtime available on Fridays and Saturdays as needed
Climate-controlled facility (air conditioned and heated)
Clean, organized machine shop
Job shop environment with a wide variety of parts, materials, and production quantities

Responsibilities

Program CNC lathes from engineering drawings and customer specifications
Set up machines, tooling, and workholding for production
Machine parts to blueprint specifications and required tolerances
Inspect parts throughout the machining process to ensure quality standards are met
Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Perform routine preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
Work with supervisors and team members to improve quality and productivity

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of CNC lathe programming experience
Minimum 5 years of CNC machine setup experience
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
Ability to program from prints and CAD files (DWG, DXF, STEP/STP)
Experience machining to tolerances of ±0.001" or better
Experience operating and programming multi-axis CNC lathes or CNC Mills
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Mastercam CAD/CAM software
Experience with Okuma, Mazak, or Mori CNC machines
Experience in a high-mix, low-volume job shop environment

Compensation & Benefits
