Full Job Description

Position Summary

New Brighton Care Center is seeking an experienced Skilled Nursing Facility Administrator to lead the daily operations, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and quality-of-care initiatives of our 57-bed facility. This role carries 24-hour, 7-day responsibility for facility operations and provides leadership to department directors across nursing, finance, human resources, environmental services, maintenance, medical records, nutritional services, social services, therapeutic recreation, and contracted therapy services.

The Administrator ensures that facility operations meet high standards for resident care, staff leadership, budget management, organizational performance, and compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead, organize, and direct ongoing facility operations in accordance with company policies and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

· Promote a culture of courtesy, respect, confidentiality, resident rights, and HIPAA compliance for residents, families, staff, and visitors.

· Ensure accurate recordkeeping, reporting, and documentation in accordance with regulatory agency requirements.

· Oversee compliance with federal and state regulations governing nursing home services, including policy and procedure administration.

· Investigate complaints, concerns, and operational problems; ensure timely resolution, corrective action, and follow-up.

· Monitor legislative, community, regulatory, reimbursement, and third-party payer issues that may impact facility operations and strategy.

· Participate in strategic planning, census management, public information accuracy, marketing, public relations, and community outreach efforts.

· Serve as a liaison with the owner, regulatory agencies, third-party payers, vendors, community partners, and the broader business community.

· Partner with finance leadership to develop and maintain reporting systems, accounting controls, budgets, revenue projections, and cost-saving initiatives.

· Promote resident-centered care by ensuring staff understand the importance of family, friends, and community involvement in supporting each resident’s sense of security and belonging.

Team and Human Resource Management

· Recruit, hire, orient, educate, coach, and direct qualified facility personnel, including department heads and outside consultants.

· Formulate, implement, evaluate, and recommend changes to personnel policies, procedures, and employment practices.

· Maintain open communication with staff regarding concerns, ideas, quality improvement opportunities, and operational needs.

· Provide employee counseling, coaching, progressive discipline, performance feedback, recognition, and documentation as appropriate.

· Support staff development, leadership training, morale initiatives, productivity expectations, and fair workload distribution.

· Serve as a professional role model and maintain a high standard of leadership, attendance, communication, and conduct.

· Assume responsibility for the safety of residents, staff, and visitors and ensure adherence to safety, infection control, and resident rights policies.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Administration, Health Services Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required.

· A current Minnesota Nursing Home Administrator license (LNHA) in good standing is required, or a Health Services Executive credential.

· Minimum of 4-6 years of LNHA experience in skilled nursing.

· Must be eligible to work in the Federal Health Program.

· Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.

Preferred Qualifications

· Five to ten years of supervisory or administrative experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or a similar healthcare environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Current knowledge of state and federal nursing home and ICF regulations.

· Strong computer skills, including email, word processing, and facility-related software.

· Ability to prepare clear, concise reports and analyze complex operational, regulatory, and resident care issues.

· Ability to plan, assign, direct, and evaluate the work of others.

· Excellent oral, written, presentation, interpersonal, and team leadership skills.

· Ability to interpret professional standards, technical procedures, government regulations, and practice requirements.

· Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, respond to emergencies, and work flexible hours as needed.
