Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree

Solid work ethic along with strong motivational, coaching, teaching and communication skills.

The ability to travel extensively.

Prior softball coaching experience or playing experience

Extensive knowledge of the sport of softball.
- Knowledge and experience working with NCAA rules and regulations.

Demonstrated experience mentoring women.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience coaching at the intercollegiate Division I level.

The University of Minnesota Athletic Department is seeking an Assistant Coach for Softball. This position assists the Head Coach in the organization, administration, and promotion of all aspects of the Minnesota Softball Program.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Coaching (60%)

Assist head coach in all aspects of developing and maintaining a competitive intercollegiate sport program within the NCAA and Big Ten Conference.

Instruct and develop high level student-athletes in fundamentals of softball, coaching technique and strategy.

Assist with practice planning and game preparation including evaluation of opponents.
-
Perform administrative responsibilities, including assisting in budget planning and management, scheduling of competitions and planning and executing team travel.
- Assist in monitoring the academic performance of student-athletes to help them achieve full potential.
Recruiting (20%)

Under the direction of the head coach assist in identifying, evaluating, and the recruitment of qualified student athletes. Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes to the University of Minnesota whose athletic skills make them highly competitive in the Big Ten and whose academic abilities make them good candidates for a meaningful academic experience and graduation from the University of Minnesota.
Athletic Relationships (15%)

Establish and maintain effective relationships within the athletics department, the University community, alumni, media and the public.

Represent in a positive fashion the University and its athletic programs in private and public forums.

Commit to adhering to all policies, procedures and regulations of the Department, the University, the Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA.

Assist in advancing the department's vision, commitments and actions identified in our United Are We strategic plan.

This position will contribute to and enhance a positive learning environment, competitive athletic experience, and atmosphere conducive to the welfare and academic support of the student athlete.
