Who are we hiring?
We are seeking an experienced Foreperson to lead and direct all aspects of field operations. This role is critical to ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate has extensive construction experience, proven leadership abilities, strong communication skills, and a track record of managing large teams and complex projects successfully.
What you’ll do:
Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Direct and supervise all field personnel including Assistant Forepersons, carpenters, laborers, and subcontractors
- Assign daily tasks and establish production goals
- Provide training, mentoring, and performance feedback
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and adjust resources as needed
Project Management & Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain detailed work schedules for employees and subcontractors
- Coordinate task sequencing to optimize workflow and productivity
- Report daily progress to the Project Manager
- Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts and bottlenecks
Budget Management & Cost Control:
- Monitor project costs and expenses against budget
- Track labor hours and productivity metrics
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend improvements
- Manage material usage to minimize waste
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure complete compliance with all OSHA regulations and company safety policies
- Conduct regular safety inspections and address hazards immediately
- Lead daily safety briefings and maintain detailed safety records
- Investigate all incidents and implement corrective actions
Quality Control & Inspections:
- Verify work quality against specifications and blueprints
- Conduct inspections at key project milestones
- Prepare comprehensive punch lists and ensure completion
- Coordinate with client inspectors and third-party engineers
Field Administration:
- Maintain detailed records of daily activities and progress
- Prepare accurate incident reports and safety documentation
- Track inventory and monitor equipment condition
- Process and approve timesheets and work reports
Communication & Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as primary point of contact between field operations and project management
- Provide regular status updates to Project Managers and senior leadership
- Interface with clients, general contractors, and building owners
- Resolve disputes between workers and coordinate with subcontractors
Layout & Technical Skills:
- Snap lines and establish layout reference points for framing crews
- Interpret construction drawings and communicate specifications to crews
- Verify proper placement of structural elements
- Troubleshoot field issues and provide technical guidance
What do you need to succeed?
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; some post-secondary construction training or management certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of construction experience with at least 3-5 years as a Foreperson or in a similar supervisory capacity.
- Technical Skills: Expert ability to read construction blueprints and drawings, proficiency with hand and power tools, strong layout and measurement skills.
- Safety Certifications: OSHA 10-30 certification (30 preferred), First Aid/CPR/AED certification, forklift and aerial lift certifications required.
- Leadership & Management: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage diverse teams, excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, strong decision-making ability.
- Administrative: Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, proficiency with basic computer systems and jobsite management software.
- Other Skills: Ability to work under pressure, strong attention to detail, reliability, ability to work in all weather conditions, willingness to work flexible hours including some Saturdays.
