Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative Revenue Accounting System Business Analyst to support revenue accounting applications, financial systems, system enhancements, user acceptance testing, and production support within a large enterprise environment.
This role will serve as an individual contributor responsible for supporting system maintenance, testing activities, defect tracking, deployment coordination, and business user support for applications that impact revenue accounting and finance operations.
The ideal candidate has experience working with financial systems, accounting processes, enterprise applications, user acceptance testing, and cross-functional project teams. This individual should be comfortable partnering with Finance, IT, Decision Support, business users, software development teams, and other stakeholders to ensure system functionality, data accuracy, and successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Accounting Systems Support
- Support revenue accounting systems and related financial applications to ensure business processes, system functionality, and user needs are effectively maintained.
- Provide insight into current application functionality and recommend enhancements that improve accuracy, efficiency, usability, and business alignment.
- Partner with Finance, IT, Decision Support, business users, and project teams to support the development and implementation of new business practices.
- Analyze reported system issues, open and monitor support cases, communicate status updates, and partner with technical teams through resolution.
- Facilitate revenue accounting data mining activities and assist business units in identifying appropriate data sources.
User Acceptance Testing & Defect Management
- Design, review, and execute user acceptance testing plans for revenue accounting systems and related financial applications.
- Perform testing activities to ensure project scope is met and identified defects are corrected prior to production implementation.
- Identify, document, track, and validate resolution of defects, maintenance items, enhancements, and other system issues.
- Use testing and issue-tracking tools to create business cases, document defects, monitor progress, and support timely resolution.
- Ensure testing documentation is clear, organized, and aligned with project requirements.
Project Coordination & Deployment Support
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, software developers, and project support teams to determine project scope, requirements, timelines, and testing needs.
- Monitor project schedules and support change management activities.
- Review, monitor, facilitate, and organize production deployment activities for revenue accounting systems.
- Support post-implementation activities, including validation, issue follow-up, and user support.
- Participate in meetings to understand business requirements and provide feedback on system functionality, data flows, and user experience considerations.
Business Analysis & Documentation
- Interpret user stories impacting revenue accounting systems and translate business needs into clear business cases, test scenarios, support tickets, and system enhancement documentation.
- Analyze system workflows, user requirements, and application functionality to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Balance multiple priorities and respond quickly to changing business needs, project timelines, and production support requests.
Qualifications
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Equivalent combination of relevant education, background, skills, and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education
- Master’s degree preferred.
- PMP certification preferred.
Required Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in business analysis, financial planning and analysis, accounting operations, financial systems, or related finance technology support.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and finance business processes.
- Practical experience testing enterprise-size financial applications.
- Experience supporting software development projects, systems enhancements, or financial application implementations preferred.
- Experience working with business users, technical teams, and project stakeholders in a cross-functional environment.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong experience with user acceptance testing, test planning, defect tracking, and production support.
- Experience with Azure DevOps or similar software development, testing, and issue-tracking platforms.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of PLSQL queries or similar database query tools preferred.
- General understanding of infrastructure requirements, SharePoint sites, networks, and enterprise application environments.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and planning skills.
- Ability to analyze system issues and translate findings into clear action steps.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and adjust quickly based on changing business needs.
- Strong attention to detail and accountability for deliverables.
- Comfortable partnering with stakeholders across Finance, IT, business operations, and project teams.
- Collaborative, solutions-focused, and able to support users in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
Work Environment
- Hybrid schedule with Monday through Thursday onsite and Friday work from home.
- Primarily office-based with extended periods working at a desk and computer.
- May require occasional movement throughout office or operational facilities.
- No or very little travel anticipated.
