About Us

AVE Accounting Services is a full-service accounting firm providing bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, tax preparation, sales tax compliance, financial reporting, business consulting, and IRS and state tax representation services to individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations.

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and professional Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our growing team. This position begins on a part-time, as-needed basis, with the opportunity to grow into a regular part-time or full-time position as the firm continues to expand.

We are committed to developing future accounting professionals. While prior experience is valued, we are willing to train candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic, professionalism, and a genuine desire to build a long-term career in public accounting.

Position Responsibilities

Perform bookkeeping and accounting functions using a variety of accounting software platforms based on client needs.
Record, classify, and reconcile financial transactions.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, loans, and other balance sheet accounts.
Assist with payroll processing and payroll tax compliance.
Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.
Assist with federal, state, and local business compliance filings.
Support individual, business, and nonprofit tax preparation during tax season.
Communicate professionally with clients, the IRS, state departments of revenue, and other government agencies.
Assist clients with business registrations, licenses, and regulatory filings.
Meet with clients in person or virtually as needed.
Maintain confidential financial information with the highest level of professionalism.
Provide exceptional customer service while building long-term client relationships.
Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in Accounting or Finance, or completion of at least two years of college coursework toward a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Must be actively pursuing completion of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Previous bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, or tax experience is preferred but not required.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
Experience using one or more accounting software platforms is preferred. Candidates with experience working in multiple accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, Zoho Books, FreshBooks, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Wave, or similar accounting software) are strongly preferred.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Eagerness to learn new accounting software, tax laws, and accounting procedures.
Must reside in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area or surrounding communities.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working in a public accounting firm.
Experience with bookkeeping for multiple clients.
Experience preparing payroll, sales tax, or tax returns.
Customer service experience in a professional office environment.
Interest in pursuing the CPA designation or another professional accounting credential.

Schedule

Hybrid work environment.
Extremely flexible schedule.
Hours are assigned based on client workload and firm needs.

Compensation

Starting at $22.00 per hour.
Hours are based on client workload and business demand.
Opportunities for pay increases based on performance, experience, and firm growth.
