Primary Function:
Assures the smooth and efficient operation of a well-organized payroll office in a friendly and professional manner. Maintains accurate and updated records necessary for prompt and accurate handling of all payroll matters and local, state and federal reporting.
Requirements:
Educational Level: High School Diploma and 4 years payroll experience, office practices required. Bachelor Degree in a related field preferred.
Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills, ability to operate office machinery and deal with multiple tasks, computer competence, typing and proof reading skills.
Personal Skills: Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills and stamina to perform essential duties.
Proficiency in Microsoft office and Excel is required.

Works 240 days/year. Yearly salary is determined by multiplying the hourly pay rate by the number of work days. That total is then divided by 12 months.

12. Demonstrates proficiency in drafting written correspondence, answers correspondence received by and on behalf of the supervisor as requested.

24. Supervises and evaluates personnel assigned to the department.
25. Calculates and reconciles all payrolls, including maintaining employee leave accruals and leave balances, and assisting with leave-related reporting.
26. Prepares reports and checks for proper agencies covering all deductions.
27. Enters, calculates and completes reports for all wage garnishments.
28. Prepares and reports all quarterly and annually state, federal, and other agency returns such as taxes, W2, 941, etc.
29. Prints, sorts and distributes payroll checks.
30. Calculates and processes deduction payments to appropriate vendors in an accurate and timely manner.
31. Maintains records necessary for and prepares electronic transmissions of TRS, etc. in an accurate and timely manner.
32. Oversees the maintenance of payroll files.
33. Assists employees with payroll questions and paperwork.
34. Demonstrates loyalty to the school, school system and administrators.
35. Enhances the climate of the building and the morale of colleagues.
36. Works with school payroll personnel to ensure proper crediting of timesheets and overtime.
37. Performs other duties as requested.
