Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to support two complementary operations: BC Metalworks, a custom fabrication shop producing architectural railings, ornamental gates, and structural metalwork; and BC Customs LLC, a defense contractor building the SXV 6x6 series-hybrid military vehicle platform. The workload split between companies is flexible and will be driven by active project demand. This role offers rare variety — from precision ornamental work to tactical vehicle fabrication — and significant room for wage growth based on demonstrated capability.

Core Responsibilities

Perform MIG and flux-core welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
Fabricate from shop drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications
Layout, cut, grind, drill, and assemble components to tolerance
Operate shop equipment including band saws, ironworkers, plasma cutters, drill presses, and grinders
Build architectural railings, gates, and structural weldments for BC Metalworks projects
Fabricate vehicle frames, subassemblies, armor plate, and mounting hardware for SXV platform production
Perform finish work including weld dressing, prep for powder coat, and assembly
Maintain quality standards and inspect own work against drawings and specs
Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and in good working order
Collaborate with shop lead and general manager on project sequencing and priorities
Assist with material handling, loading/unloading, and occasional field install support

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated MIG welding experience (weld test required)
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and weld symbols
Experience with basic fabrication layout and measurement
Reliable transportation and consistent attendance

Preferred Qualifications

Ornamental or architectural metal fabrication background
Structural, automotive, or military vehicle fabrication experience
AWS certification(s)
Familiarity with AutoCAD shop drawings
Forklift experience

Wage Structure

Starting wage is determined by weld test performance and verified experience:

$18–$21/hr: Entry-level, single-process competency, developing fabrication skills
$22–$26/hr: Multi-process welder, independent fabricator, reads drawings confidently
$27–$30/hr: Advanced fabricator, AWS-certified or equivalent, capable of leading complex builds across both architectural and vehicle work

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
