Full Job Description

Looking for a reliable, customer service oriented individual to assist the doctor part time (preferably someone who speaks Spanish). The right candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, but be courteous, professional, and maintain a friendly disposition.

Work History
We are willing to train the right person for the position, so experience in an optometric office is not as necessary as the willingness to learn. However, previous experience or work history in the following areas may be helpful to apply established skills to adapt to the position.

Job Description
The purpose of the Optometrist Assistant serves multiple roles. The position includes the following responsibilities:

Greet patients as they check in for appointments.
Schedule appointments or referrals.
Maintain the doctor's schedule.
“Pre-test” patients for exams at a timely pace.
Actively listen and use deductive problem solving to assess individual patient needs.
Communicate clearly and effectively.
Use optical equipment (auto-refractor; tonometer; visual field)
Verify/Authorize insurance benefits and eligibility.
Explain out-of-pocket expenses and insurance benefits to patients.
Collect patient co-pays/payments & maintain daily transactions.
Proficient use of office software/computer system, Microsoft Office Suite, & internet to type/verify/print data.
Understand/Comply with HIPAA
Observe office policies/procedures.
Answer multi-line phone system.
Use copy/fax machine.
Maintain the overall appearance/cleanliness of the office.

Job Type: Part-time

Education:

High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
