The Corning Museum of Glass is seeking an enthusiastic, customer-focused Make Your Own Glass (MYOG) Associate, Cold Work to help deliver exceptional hands-on glassmaking experiences in The Studio. This role combines guest engagement, education, technical skill-building, and creative problem-solving to support visitors as they create unique glass projects through sandblasting, engraving, fusing, and other cold-working techniques.

As a member of the MYOG team, you will guide participants through the creative process, support daily studio operations, and help foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where people of all backgrounds can explore glassmaking. Whether assisting first-time makers, facilitating group experiences, preparing artwork for pickup, or helping develop new programs, you will play an important role in creating memorable experiences for thousands of Museum guests each year.

What You'll Do

Glassmaking & Guest Experience

Guide individuals and groups through hands-on glassmaking experiences, including sandblasting, fusing, engraving, and other projects as developed. *
Create engaging, educational, and enjoyable experiences for participants of all ages and skill levels. *
Teach and/or facilitate glassmaking activities across a variety of Studio programs and events. *
Host public programs, social events, and special Studio experiences as requested. *
Support programs and initiatives that expand access and increase participation among diverse Studio audiences. *
Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants while adhering to Museum safety policies and procedures. *
Open and/or close the MYOG Workshop as assigned. *

Studio Operations & Technical Support

Process glass projects from creation through completion, including kiln operation, packaging, labeling, shipping, and guest pickup. *
Assist with or lead technical operations, including preparing materials, organizing workspaces, and maintaining equipment throughout The Studio. *
Help ensure Studio spaces, tools, and equipment remain clean, organized, and ready for daily operations.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with supply management as requested. *
Learn and operate specialized equipment and machinery used in Studio programs. *

Collaboration & Museum Support

Support the Museum’s commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion in all aspects of your work.
Contribute to the Museum’s advancement and community engagement initiatives.
Work collaboratively with artists, instructors, Studio users, guests, donors, and colleagues to provide exceptional service and support. *
Assist with the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs, processes, and systems. *
Help cultivate a positive, supportive, and inspiring environment for visitors, artists, and the broader glassmaking community. *
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. *

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.
Customer service, hospitality, education, recreation, arts, museum, or related experience preferred.
Experience teaching, facilitating, or leading groups is helpful but not required.

Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

The work environment is regularly indoors and climate controlled. The work environment is occasionally indoors not climate controlled, wet, humid, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, odors, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
