Job Summary: Our Metal Shop consists of Metal Punch Presses, Shears, Press Brakes, Spot Welders, Coil Lines, Laser Cutter, Roll-forming and other metal equipment. This equipment is utilized to fabricate parts for our metal shelving line. These parts are either finished and transferred to paint, Spot Welded and transferred to paint or transferred to Welding for final operations to be performed prior to painting. The parts manufactured at Storflex are usually being made to customer specifications.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Picks up material and positions it onto machine table, presses pedal or other operation activation devises to engage the machine, lower the ram to form bends, cut, punch or notch work pieces;
- Inserts hardware into products;
- Feeds metal sheets into rolling machines;
- Inspects parts visually and for conformance to specifications by using a tape measure and referencing drawings.
- Responsible for quality inspection and reporting;
- Completes daily production reports;
- Operates other Metal Shop equipment;
- Cleans work area and disposes of scrap metal.
- Abides by company and safety polices.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Experience and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- General relative work experience is preferred.
- Quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills a plus.
- Experience as shear operator a plus!
- Ability to read and interpret drawings when required.
- Effective communication, writing, active listening and taking instruction.
- Ability to read a tape measure, understands decimals and fractions.
- Ability to stand, sit or be in other physically demanding positions for long periods of time.
- Willingness to train on different machinery including forklift, loading and unloading equipment.
