Full Job Description

Chris Preble from Robert Half is looking for an Accounting Manager for one of his Elmira area clients to help lead core accounting operations and provide hands-on oversight of daily financial activities. This role will guide a small team, strengthen accounting processes, and help ensure timely, accurate reporting across payables, receivables, cash activity, and month-end close.

Responsibilities:

Help direct daily accounting operations across core functions, maintaining reliable records and supporting efficient financial workflows.
Prepare and manage the weekly payment cycle, reviewing disbursements for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval.
Partner on banking activity and cash management tasks, helping monitor liquidity and maintain organized cash-related records.
Contribute to the monthly close by reviewing and approving journal entries and helping keep reporting deadlines on track.
Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies to support accurate general ledger reporting.
Coordinate close activities related to receivables, payables, and intercompany confirmations to ensure complete and timely accounting records.
Provide documentation and support for external or internal audit requests, supplying information in a thorough and organized manner.
Create and refine accounting process documentation and written procedures to improve consistency, accountability, and team efficiency.
Experience in month-end close activities and general ledger maintenance.
Ability to review journal entries and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
Experience completing account reconciliations, including detailed balance sheet analysis.
Working knowledge of banking transactions and cash management practices.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise, coach, and coordinate a small accounting team.
