Full Job Description

Schedule:
Monday–Thursday: 6:00 AM–5:00 PM
Friday: 6:00 AM–3:00 PM
One-hour unpaid lunch.

Overtime is a regular part of our production schedule and is required based on customer demand and production requirements. Additional overtime, including occasional weekends, may be required.

Job Summary

RC Industries is seeking an experienced, hands-on CNC Machine Shop Floor Manager to oversee daily manufacturing operations in our precision machine shop.

The ideal candidate has strong CNC machining experience, leadership skills, and the ability to manage daily production while remaining actively involved on the shop floor.

This is a working leadership position. The CNC Machine Shop Floor Manager will spend the majority of their time supporting employees, solving production issues, improving processes, and ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.

This role will support both first and second shift operations by maintaining consistent production standards, communication, and workflow between shifts.

Key Responsibilities Production & Team Leadership

Lead daily CNC machine shop operations and maintain a strong presence on the production floor.
Supervise machinists, setup personnel, and machine operators.
Assign work based on employee skills, machine capacity, workload, and production priorities.
Support both morning and night shift operations to maintain consistent quality, safety, and productivity.
Ensure smooth communication and shift handoffs regarding production status, priorities, and issues.
Train, coach, and develop employees to improve skills and performance.
Promote accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Assist with interviewing, onboarding, training, and employee evaluations as needed.
Hold employees accountable for safety, quality, attendance, productivity, and company procedures.

Production Management & Machining Support

Monitor daily production schedules and ensure customer delivery requirements are met.
Review machine capacity, manpower requirements, and workload priorities.
Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes as needed to support production.
Troubleshoot machining issues involving tooling, fixtures, workholding, programs, and processes.
Assist machinists with setup challenges and production problems.
Monitor machine utilization, downtime, cycle times, scrap, and rework.
Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to increase efficiency.
Ensure tooling, fixtures, materials, and programs are available before production begins.
Support new job launches by confirming tooling, programs, documentation, and processes are ready.

Quality & Process Control

Ensure parts are produced according to drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
Support first article inspections and resolve quality concerns with the Quality department.
Review rejected, suspect, and rework parts and assist with corrective actions.
Ensure travelers, inspection records, and production documentation are completed accurately.
Promote a quality-first manufacturing culture.

Tooling, Equipment & Shop Organization

Manage tooling inventory and ensure availability of cutting tools, inserts, drills, end mills, taps, gauges, and shop supplies.
Coordinate ordering of tooling and production supplies as needed.
Monitor tooling usage and identify opportunities to improve machining efficiency.
Coordinate preventive maintenance activities and report equipment issues to minimize downtime.
Ensure machines are operated safely and properly maintained.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient machine shop using 5S principles and lean manufacturing practices.

Communication & Continuous Improvement

Lead daily production meetings and communicate priorities, staffing concerns, machine downtime, and scheduling updates.
Work closely with Quality, Engineering, Programming, Purchasing, Shipping, Maintenance, Human Resources, and Management.
Monitor production performance, including schedule completion, downtime, scrap, rework, and productivity.
Identify opportunities to improve workflow, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and delivery performance.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience with mills and/or lathes.
Minimum 2 years of machine shop leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, setups, tooling, and troubleshooting.
Experience with HAAS CNC equipment preferred.
Ability to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes.
Strong understanding of cutting tools, feeds and speeds, workholding, and machining methods.
Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
Experience using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators.
Experience in aerospace or tight-tolerance manufacturing preferred.
ERP experience such as JobBOSS or similar manufacturing software preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Ability to work primarily on the production floor.
Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work safely around CNC machinery, forklifts, overhead cranes, coolant, and manufacturing equipment.
Must be available for regular overtime, including Fridays and occasional weekends as production requires.
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Ability to make sound decisions and solve problems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
