ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff.
Handle patient and employee information with appropriate sensitivity and safeguarding to ensure confidentiality and right to privacy.
Receive and process physician generated patient referrals for specialty care including, but not limited to computer entry, tracking for authorization, and notification to patients.
Assist patient with obtaining needed appointments when necessary.
Obtain specialist reports after patients’ specialty visits, present reports for physician review, file reports in patient chart, and maintain tickler file for follow-up appointments.
Notify physician of denied referrals, missed appointments, specialist requested follow-up appointments and coordinate new referral/appointment as necessary.
Maintain referral log; referral records and report on data.
Tracking of special services such as mammogram appointments and reports, CDP: EWC, etc.
Perform patient referrals and authorizations by completing and submitting documents and discussing with providers, insurance carriers and patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledgeable in Medi-Cal Managed Care, FPACT, and CDP; EWC
Demonstrates friendly and courteous manner in dealing with patients, physicians, co-workers, and referral contacts.
2 years minimum previous referral experience.
Ability to access approved websites, data entry, email, electronic medical records.
Must be able to pass the LaSalle Basic Skills Test with a passing score of 76% or better.
Bilingual - English/Spanish
Full COVID-19 vaccine required to include booster
