Full Job Description

Job Summary

Biolase MG is seeking two Electrical Engineers to join our R&D team in Foothill Ranch, CA. We are hiring at both the Junior and Senior levels and are seeking candidates with prior professional electrical engineering experience.

In this role, you will support systems engineering activities across new product development and sustaining engineering for our laser systems and dental imaging products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams on electrical hardware design, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and product development.

The level and compensation offered will be based on the candidate's education, experience, technical expertise, and demonstrated capabilities.

Compensation: This position is open to both Junior and Senior-level candidates. The anticipated salary range is $65,000–$85,000 for the Junior level and $85,000–$125,000 for the Senior level, depending on experience, qualifications, and technical expertise.

Responsibilities

Design and develop analog and digital circuits using Cadence OrCAD, Altium Designer, and PADS
Create schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs
Perform hardware validation, debugging, and board bring-up
Develop wireless systems using BLE, RF4CE, Zigbee, and Wi-Fi
Work with embedded interfaces such as I2C, I2S, SPI, and UART
Program and test 8-bit and 32-bit ARM microcontrollers
Operate lab equipment (oscilloscope, power analyzer, logic analyzer, etc.) for testing and troubleshooting
Write and maintain technical documents including design specs and validation protocols
Ensure compliance with FDA and medical device regulatory standards

Qualifications

Junior Electrical Engineer

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Minimum 2 years of relevant electrical engineering experience
Knowledge or hands-on experience with analog and digital circuit design
Exposure to schematic capture and PCB design/layout tools such as OrCAD, Altium Designer, or PADS
Understanding of microcontrollers and embedded interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, and I2S
Experience using common electrical engineering lab equipment
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Medical device, laser system, wireless communication, or embedded hardware experience is a plus

Senior Electrical Engineer

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
5+ years of directly relevant hardware engineering experience
Strong hands-on analog and digital circuit design, PCB development, board bring-up, debugging, and validation experience required
Proficiency with OrCAD, Altium Designer, PADS, or comparable tools
Experience with embedded systems and ARM-based microcontrollers required
Experience with wireless technologies such as BLE, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, and/or RF systems
Ability to independently lead electrical design and troubleshooting activities
Strong technical documentation skills
Medical device and laser-system experience strongly preferred
