We are looking for an Education Program Manager to manage day-to-day operations of the PORTAble Learning Lab and the Manufacture Your Path Breakout Box in Texas, while supporting the delivery of educational programming and creating meaningful learning experiences for students and educators.
The PORTAble Learning Lab is mobile, immersive game environment housed in a shipping container, bringing hands-on learning to schools in the Corpus Christi region. Students explore STEM through immersive reality, interactive games, and collaborative challenges. Offering our award-winning Breakout Box: Environmental Mission as well as in-classroom activities for students K-12. This program is in partnership with the Port of Corpus Christi.
The Manufacture Your Path development pathway is a mobile, immersive career-connected learning program that brings hands-on manufacturing experiences to schools across Texas and other regions. Students in grades 9-12 explore modern manufacturing through immersive challenges, interactive activities, and collaborative problem-solving while building in-demand skills onboard the Breakout Box, a 38’ touchdown trailer. Offering our award-winning Manufacturing Challenge and Biomanufacturing Mission as well as complimentary classroom activities and optional Manufacturing Night events. Position Description
The Program Manager is a pivotal and visible role that leads daily program operations of the traveling education programs responsible for delivery and impact of student engagements. This role works cross-functionally with educators, schools, our corporate partners, and volunteers to manage tactical program details and make sure every student gets the very best learning experience onboard the mobile units and in the classroom. In this role, the program manager will build relationships with teachers and schools in existing and new markets, serving as the primary point of contact for program partners and collaborating with other youth-serving organizations. This position will supervise a program team of three full-time employees, overseeing training, coordination, professional development, and program events. The Program Manager will keep the programs focused on goals, maintain schedules, deliver positive outcomes – all while continuously checking results and improving along the way.
Responsibilities include:
§ Educational Program Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations and management of mobile education programs and events. Ensure that all aspects of both the PORTAble Learning Lab and Manufacture Your Path programs run smoothly and effectively; anticipate and resolve challenges while delivering high-quality outcomes. Exemplify strong decision-making skills and solutions-oriented leadership, leading with clarity and seeking input from other stakeholders when appropriate.
§ Team Supervision: Coach and lead team members to achieve program outcomes. Oversee the daily activities of the program team (3 FTEs), providing guidance, support, and feedback to ensure high performance. Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for direct reports.
§ Program Goals and Evaluation: Develop program goals and evaluation strategies based on organizational objectives and partner/funder expectations. Implement metrics and reporting systems to evaluate program performance and impact. Regularly assess and report on program effectiveness.
§ Technology Oversight: Keep technical components of the mobile laboratory game experiences functioning, including computers, tablets, lighting, screens, and other off-the-shelf and custom-built tech components. Load and test game build updates, coordinate with software designer and technical lead to manage scheduled and as-needed maintenance, upgrades, and improvements.
§ Facilitate Programming: Serve as a facilitator and/or instructor for mobile laboratory visits, camps, afterschool programs, and public events. Ensure a positive and educational experience for all participants.
§ Internal Collaboration and Coordination: Serve as the main point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding program matters. Facilitate communication and coordination across teams. Work closely with leadership (director and above) and program team to align program activities with organizational goals and strategies. Demonstrate comfort and effectiveness in a field-based role, collaborating regularly with Learning Undefeated’s education leadership.
§ Funder, Partner and External Communications: Lead communications with funders, partners, and other stakeholders in conjunction with the program Director and/or Chief Innovation Officer, to provide timely and accurate updates and address any inquiries or issues. Ensure all program materials, including website content and teacher resources, are up-to-date and relevant.
§ Vendor and Logistics Oversight: Oversee program vendors, including transportation, logistics, and supplies for school visits and events. Maintain detailed records of schedules, equipment, and facilities.
§ Professional Development: Develop and present professional development sessions for educators to enhance their knowledge and implementation of each program’s curriculum and initiatives.
§ Curriculum Support: Collaborate with the curriculum design team to develop and update curriculum, activities, and materials for K-12 students and teachers, ensuring alignment with TEKs and other relevant standards.
§ Brand Visibility: Compile materials such as program photos, student and teacher interviews, and other multimedia assets for promotional and reporting purposes.Represent Learning Undefeated at conferences, events, and other public engagements, serving as a spokesperson to promote the organization’s mission and initiatives.
§ Administrative Tasks: Complete essential record keeping tasks, including the accurate completion and submission of timesheets, expense reporting, and other required documentation, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and timely processing.
Position requirements:
§ Minimum three years of experience in a mobile laboratory, classroom, or business setting required, five years preferred. Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, education, or related STEM/manufacturing field preferred.
§ Experience supervising personnel preferred.
§ This position requires an individual with outstanding customer service and attitude who is friendly, outgoing and can work well as part of a team.
§ The Program Manager must be able to work independently with resourcefulness to manage remote employees. They must be flexible and adapt well in unpredictable situations.
§ Frequent travel with overnight stays nationwide (50% travel expected). Travel expenses will be covered by Learning Undefeated.
§ Must be available for up to two evening and weekend functions per month, with two weeks or more notice.
Work Location & Schedule
This position is based in Corpus Christi, Texas, and candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Corpus Christi area. The role requires up to 50% travel. Candidates should anticipate being on the road approximately two weeks per month, up to five days at a time. Travel may include occasional weekends and/or evenings. All travel expenses are paid.
Compensation & Benefits
Anticipated starting salary: $60,000
Learning Undefeated offers competitive salary plus many benefits to its employees, including generous paid time off, ten paid holidays per year plus one week of paid time off between Christmas and New Year’s Day, health, dental, life and vision insurance, 401(k) with 4% company match, tuition reimbursement, professional development assistance.
