Medical Director / Attending Physician – Skilled Nursing Facilities

Location: Cortland, NY

Coverage Area: Multiple Skilled Nursing Facilities Throughout Central New York

Compensation: $250,000 – $325,000+ per year

Position Overview

Genisis Medical Health is seeking an experienced Medical Director / Attending Physician to provide clinical leadership and patient care across multiple skilled nursing facilities in the Cortland and surrounding Central New York region.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine leadership responsibilities with direct patient care, working closely with facility administrators, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care to residents.

We are looking for a physician who is dedicated, collaborative, and experienced in managing geriatric and post-acute populations. Candidates with strong Internal Medicine backgrounds and experience in skilled nursing settings are highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Serve as Medical Director and Attending Physician across assigned skilled nursing facilities
Provide primary, post-acute, and long-term care services to residents
Conduct admissions, follow-up visits, annual assessments, and chronic disease management
Collaborate with nursing leadership, administrators, specialists, and facility staff
Support quality improvement initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance
Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions
Work to reduce hospital readmissions and improve patient outcomes
Maintain timely and accurate documentation within EMR systems
Provide clinical leadership and guidance to facility teams

Qualifications

MD or DO licensed in New York
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatric Medicine
Strong Internal Medicine experience required
Experience in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Long-Term Care, or Geriatric Medicine preferred
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Ability to effectively manage responsibilities across multiple facilities

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary: $250,000 – $325,000+ annually
