Assistant Activity Coordinator / Social Worker (Mandarin Speaking)

Americana Adult Day Center is a licensed Community-Based Adult Services (CBAS) program dedicated to providing comprehensive health, therapeutic, social, and supportive services to eligible Medi-Cal participants in a community-based setting. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life, independence, and well-being of older adults through compassionate, person-centered care.

Position Overview

Americana Adult Day Center is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and bilingual Assistant Activity Coordinator / Social Worker (Mandarin Speaking) to join our interdisciplinary team. This position is responsible for developing and coordinating engaging recreational and therapeutic activities that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being of older adults, including individuals with memory impairment and disabilities.

The ideal candidate is passionate about working with seniors, enjoys building meaningful relationships, and thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. This role also includes communicating with participants and their families in Mandarin and contributing to individualized care planning.

Work hours are: Monday through Friday 11 am to 5 pm.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and facilitate engaging recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical wellness.
Develop individualized activity plans that accommodate participants' abilities, interests, and care needs.
Foster a warm, supportive, and inclusive environment while building positive relationships with participants.
Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to assess participant needs and contribute to individualized care plans.
Collaborate with clinical staff to develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs aligned with participants' goals.
Coordinate daily activity schedules to ensure efficient program operations while remaining responsive to participants' preferences and changing needs.
Communicate effectively with participants, family members, and caregivers in Mandarin regarding participation, progress, and care-related concerns.
Provide supportive counseling and social services to participants and families as appropriate.
Maintain accurate documentation, including progress notes, activity records, and required assessments.
Assist frail elderly and disabled adults with activities as needed while maintaining participant dignity and safety.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the CBAS program.

Qualifications

Fluency in Mandarin (speaking, reading, and writing) is required.
Strong English communication and writing skills for documentation, assessments, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Recreation Therapy, Human Services, Gerontology, or a related field preferred.
Previous experience in senior services, adult day health care, recreational therapy, social services, or a related healthcare setting is highly preferred.
Experience planning and facilitating recreational or therapeutic activities.
Compassionate, outgoing, and patient, with a genuine passion for serving older adults.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with participants, families, and staff.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
Musical, artistic, or other creative talents are highly desirable.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to safely assist frail elderly and disabled adults with mobility and activity participation.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Health examination completed and signed by a licensed physician.
Current TB clearance.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Ability to meet all CBAS and applicable state regulatory requirements.
