Full Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our innovative operations team. In this role, you will assume responsibility for overseeing and ensuring compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations within the organization through development, implementation and management of the company's EHS programs to foster a safe and sustainable work environment. The candidate will possess a strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, as well as the ability to engage employees, enforce protocols, and mitigate workplace risks. With a minimum of 5 years of EHS management experience in a manufacturing facility, you possess strong leadership skills, a collaborative approach, high attention to detail and a passion for EHS improvement.

Responsibilities:

Monitor and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards e.g. AQMD, SWPP and CUPA.
Prepare, submit, and maintain necessary environmental permits and reports.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify areas of improvement.
Ensure the organization is up to date with the latest environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations.
Develop, implement, and maintain safety management programs to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards.
Create and enforce safe work procedures, emergency response plans, and hazard communication systems.
Evaluate safety of new industry processes and equipment.
Collaborate with department leaders to ensure safety policies are integrated into daily operations.
Conduct training sessions and workshops to promote employee awareness of safety and environmental practices.
Conduct thorough risk assessments of work areas and equipment to identify potential hazards.
Lead the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness for accidents or environmental incidents.
Manage waste disposal, recycling programs, and energy use reduction efforts.
Oversee environmental impact assessments and mitigation strategies for projects and operations.
Ensure adherence to environmental sustainability goals and policies.
Compile and submit regular EHS reports to senior management, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
Track performance metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of EHS programs.
Foster a safety-first culture through leadership, employee engagement, and communication.
Act as the primary contact for employee concerns regarding safety, health, and environmental issues.
Regularly assess the effectiveness of the EHS program and recommend improvements based on industry best practices.
Compile and present annual and monthly EHS continuous improvement plans.
Promote the integration of sustainability initiatives into the company’s operational strategy.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering other related field.
Five+ years of EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of EHS regulations such as OSHA, EPA, DOT, SWPPP, AQMD etc.)
Certification in OSHA, CSP, CIH or NEBOSH is highly preferred.
Strong analytical and documentation skills
Proficient electronic applications such as Excel, databases, Word, EHS management software, and web-based systems.
Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to create and maintain positive and professional business relationships with both internal associates and external customers.
Proven diagnostic problem solving and the ability to assess risk and implement mitigation strategies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently
