Job Summary
Responsible for the overall efficiency of the internal fleet. The position has responsibility for total POOLCORP internal transportation expenses and seeks to minimize costs while optimizing utilization of all transportation assets. Seeks to provide the most cost effective methods to bring products in and deliver products to customers. Candidate will be a change agent using procedures, staff and third party solutions to bring the field service level up to expectations. Possess leadership skills, the ability to build a team and become a vital asset to management team. Manages a Fleet Specialist and +2,600 assets comprised of Material Handling Equipment, MD/HD Trucks, and LD Admin Trucks.
Responsibilities
Understands the business needs as they relate to fulfilling customer delivery expectations.
Works with locations to ensure customer needs are met with the best available service at a cost-effective price.
Monitoring costs and directing field locations to take corrective action.
Assesses current capacity of existing fleet and makes recommendations for reductions in areas with excess capacity and/or vehicle size and type based on product delivery characteristics.
Analyze requested fleet asset additions from field management.
Monitor utilization reporting for all fleet assets using company fleet route optimization software.
Focused on cost savings opportunities and channels repair/maintenance activities to the most economical providers while keeping downtime to a minimum.
Reviews status of current down vehicles and expedites return to service keeping costs down.
Works to understand and incorporate field sales center needs into the fleet strategy while keeping contact with field management at all stages of strategy development.
Keeps field management informed and trained on all cost and fleet tracking tools.
Understands Driver and Procurement Policies and Procedures.
Assists in all phases of operational functions when needed in relation to delivery and warehouse equipment.
Looks to continuously improve all areas of fleet operations while communicating new procedures/policies.
Provides guidance and direct input into POOLCORP’s efficient and cost-effective movement of goods whether by internal fleet or 3rd party carriers.

Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree.
A minimum of 5 years of experience with fleet maintenance management and warehouse equipment procurement.
Knowledge of industry related software helpful, i.e. TMW-Appian, Descartes, Roadnet. Samsara
Thorough knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, OSHA, DOT and other related State and Federal regulations.
Fleet Analytics and Utilization experience.
Results driven, self-starter with the ability to lead a team in a deadline driven environment with rapidly changing priorities.
Strong customer service skills with ability to resolve problems in a timely manner.
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
Third party fleet management company negotiation and oversight experience (e.g. ARI, Element).
CDL Driving and warehouse experience a plus preferred.
Certified Technician preferred.
