Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced Data Center Construction Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of mission-critical data center projects in Covington, Georgia. This role serves as the owner's representative and trusted advisor throughout all phases of construction, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing large-scale data center construction projects, with a strong emphasis on electrical infrastructure, MEP systems, commissioning, and mission-critical environments. This individual will oversee contractors, consultants, vendors, and stakeholders while driving project execution from pre-construction through turnover and closeout.
This position requires full-time on-site presence and direct interaction with clients, contractors, and project teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & Client Representation
- Serve as the owner's representative, acting as an extension of the client’s design and construction team throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead project execution from pre-construction planning through commissioning, turnover, and final closeout.
- Manage multiple stakeholders, including general contractors, design consultants, commissioning agents, vendors, utility providers, and owner-furnished equipment suppliers.
- Facilitate project meetings and provide clear communication regarding schedule, budget, risks, quality, and project status.
Construction Management
- Oversee all aspects of data center construction, ensuring compliance with contract documents, project requirements, and industry best practices.
- Monitor contractor performance, productivity, safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
- Review and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and construction documentation.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to maintain schedule and budget objectives.
- Evaluate contractor claims and provide recommendations to clients regarding project impacts and resolutions.
MEP & Mission-Critical Systems Oversight
- Provide leadership and oversight for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and low-voltage systems critical to data center operations.
- Coordinate installation, testing, startup, and integration of mission-critical infrastructure including:
- Utility and backup power systems
- Medium and low-voltage electrical distribution
- UPS systems
- Generators
- Switchgear and PDUs
- Cooling and HVAC systems
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Fire protection and life safety systems
- Structured cabling and low-voltage systems
- Verify compliance with redundancy requirements, reliability standards, and operational readiness objectives.
Commissioning & Quality Assurance
- Lead project commissioning efforts and ensure successful completion of factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), integrated systems testing (IST), and final turnover activities.
- Review commissioning plans, testing procedures, deficiency logs, and closeout documentation.
- Ensure all quality control processes and inspections are completed and documented.
- Review third-party inspection reports and verify timely resolution of identified deficiencies.
Schedule & Financial Management
- Develop, review, and maintain project schedules and milestone tracking.
- Monitor budgets, forecasts, contingencies, and cost controls throughout project execution.
- Analyze schedule impacts resulting from design changes, scope modifications, or unforeseen conditions.
- Prepare executive-level reporting on project performance, financial status, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Support proposal development, budgeting, forecasting, and project financial management activities.
Safety Leadership
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all site-specific, client, OSHA, and company safety requirements.
- Conduct site observations and collaborate with contractors to proactively address safety concerns.
Required Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical discipline.
Experience
- 10+ years of construction project management experience.
- 5+ years of direct experience managing mission-critical or data center construction projects.
- Proven experience overseeing large-scale electrical and MEP systems within data center environments.
- Experience managing projects with construction values exceeding $25 million.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex projects from pre-construction through commissioning and turnover.
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, resiliency, and redundancy requirements.
Technical Knowledge
- Expertise in mission-critical construction methodologies and industry best practices.
- Strong knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and risk management.
- Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documentation.
- Experience with project management software and web-based construction management platforms.

Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
- Commissioning or mission-critical systems experience.
- Experience working as an Owner's Representative, Program Manager, or Construction Manager.
- Experience with hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, or cloud-based data center projects.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Covington, GA.
- Ability to access active construction sites and perform site inspections as required.
