About Mountain Eye Associates:

Mountain Eye Associates is a medical practice specializing in comprehensive routine, medical, surgical, and consultative eye care. We have proudly served patients of Haywood and surrounding counties since 1977.

We have both medical and surgical ophthalmologists, optometrists, and licensed opticians to ensure we have the expertise to meet a wide range of eye care needs. Our clinical and clerical staff are carefully chosen for their professionalism and ability to provide excellent care for our patients.

Mountain Eye Associates is committed to providing ethical, comprehensive eye care with the utmost respect and compassion.

Responsibilities:

Escort patients to exam rooms and perform initial part of visual exam for ophthalmologist/optometrist. May also assist during minor office procedures.

Duties:

Greet patients and introduce self prior to eye exam
Explain to patient what to expect from workup and physician exam
Completes detailed patient history, including past medical history, family medical history, medication history and chief complaint
Performs appropriate tests as needed according to office policy and procedures
Ensures appropriate documentation is available on patients' charts
Attends required staff and educational meetings as requested
Maintains current licensure
Provides assistance in all other areas in office when completion of other responsibilities permits
Provides assistance to administration in developing, implementing and maintaining office policies and procedures

Compliance:

Responsible for complete knowledge and adherence to all Mountain Eye Associates, PLLC compliance plans, policies and procedures

Education & Background:

High school graduate or GED equivalent. Graduation in accredited school of medical assisting/ophthalmic assisting, or one year experience in medical office environment. Knowledge of medical terminology.

Preference given to Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT).

Temperament:

Must have a courteous and professional manner. Must be able to work under pressure and solve problems. Possesses maturity to work with a wide variety of temperaments. Must possess positive, team-oriented attitude.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Ability to lift/stretch/bend in providing patient care. Auditory and visual acuity. Manual dexterity for operating office/medical equipment. High level of mental awareness.

Job Relationship:

Does not supervise any other employees. Reports to and receives supervision from physicians and/or administration in all matters.
