About the Role
The Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader oversees all lawn, landscape, and trail maintenance across the Momentis property portfolio — multiple private properties. You run a small, mobile crew on a structured weekly deployment schedule, ensuring every property meets property standards before events, retreats, and daily use. This is a player-manager role: you are in the field doing the work alongside your crew, and also responsible for scheduling, reporting, equipment oversight, and work order coordination.
This Is a Player-Manager Role
This role combines hands-on field work with crew management and reporting responsibilities. The Division Manager executes landscape and trail work alongside the crew every day, while also owning scheduling, work order management, equipment maintenance, and weekly reporting. Candidates should be comfortable operating in both capacities.
Key Responsibilities
Landscape Maintenance Operations
- Execute all mowing, weed-eating, trimming, and edging across all properties.
- Perform pruning, mulching, landscape bed maintenance, weed control, fertilization, and seasonal planting.
- Monitor irrigation systems and report issues to the relevant property manager.
- Ensure all properties meet appearance standards before retreats, events, and family use.
Trail Maintenance
- Maintain hiking trails at the main property and the conservation property — clearing, brush removal, trail mowing, and vegetation management.
- Perform trail repairs, erosion control, and drainage corrections as directed by work orders.
- Inspect and maintain bridges, crossings, and trail signage on a regular cycle.
- Track recurring trail issues and report to the relevant property manager for work order creation.
Crew Management
- Lead and supervise one full-time crew member and seasonal crew members as needed. May assist in hiring as needed.
- Assign daily tasks, maintain quality standards, and ensure a safe working environment.
- Implement and manage the weekend on-call rotation so coverage is distributed equitably across the crew.
- Train crew members on equipment operation, safety protocols, and property standards.
Equipment Management
- Manage all Division equipment — zero-turn mowers, commercial trimmers, trailers, chainsaws, and related tools.
- Maintain equipment maintenance logs; schedule service proactively; handle minor repairs and small engine maintenance.
- Ensure equipment is properly checked in, checked out, and stored after each use.
Work Order & Administrative
- Receive and execute work orders submitted by property managers for non-standard maintenance items.
- Submit weekly maintenance reports and work order completion reports to the Ecosystem Manager.
- Maintain property issue tracking — flag recurring problems that need a structural fix.
- Manage material requests and track labor for specialty projects.
- Operate and maintain records in the property work order system (e.g., Jobber or similar).
Results We Expect
- All four properties consistently meet Momentis appearance standards.
- The main property is visibly event-ready prior to guest arrival.
- Equipment is maintained, operational, and service is scheduled proactively.
- Trail maintenance at the conservation property is handled by the internal crew without reliance on external contractors for routine work.
- Work orders are completed on schedule and tracked accurately.
- Crew members are well-directed, productive, and operating safely.
Additional Role Requirements
- Physical Requirements: Sustained outdoor physical labor in all weather; operate mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and landscape equipment; lift 80+ lbs regularly; work across varied terrain.
- Equipment: Must be proficient with zero-turn mowers, commercial trimmers, trailers, and chainsaw operation. Equipment repair and small engine maintenance experience a significant plus.
- Vehicle / Travel: Will operate company vehicle. Valid driver's license with clean driving record required — must tow equipment trailers.

- Adaptability: The schedule adjusts based on events, weather, and property needs — you adapt without losing momentum.
- Documentation: You keep the maintenance log current, file the weekly report, and flag recurring issues for proper resolution.
- Discretion: You work on private family properties. Professional conduct and confidentiality are expected at all times.
