Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to perform laboratory experiments for the physicochemical characterization and conjugation of protein reagents for use across multiple technology platforms, including but not limited to: Immunoassays, flow cytometry, IHC, and LCMS. In this role the individual will be responsible for collaborating and communicating across the organization to assure on-time delivery of high-quality characterized materials.
Key Responsibilities:
Works independently to design, execute, and analyze LCMS, SEC and other experiments to assess physicochemical properties of antibody and non-antibody protein reagents.
Performs development, validation and implementation of quantitative and qualitative assays using physiochemical methodologies (i.e. LC-MS, SEC-RI, Uv-Vis) with minimal guidance.
Works independently to design and execute method development experiments for bioconjugations of antibodies and proteins.
Performs method development and refines characterization protocols as needed.
Works with minimal oversight to interpret results, plan next steps, compile final data summaries, and present results to stakeholders.
Provides oversight of experimental design and data review for junior staff members.
Assist in scientific collaborations and/or contracted research as needed.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand project needs and relay information back to the group.
May serve as a technical point of contact within the group.
May lead innovation projects related to the physicochemical characterization of protein reagents.
Troubleshoots instrument problems and malfunctions.
Maintains required training per BMS standard operating procedures.
Maintains and completes notebooks and other documentation as per departmental guidelines.
Achieves objectives in a manner consistent with the BMS Behaviors
Leads or contributes to writing and presentation of findings in the form of posters, publications, and oral presentations (internal and external)
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of related industry experience
Master’s Degree with 2+ years of related industry experience
Ph.D. in related field with 0+ years of related industry experience
Operational and theoretical understanding of Mass Spectrometry, size exclusion chromatography and reverse phase chromatography
Basic understanding of protein conjugation chemistry is required; Experience is a plus.
Proficient in scientific writing with good verbal communication skills and the ability to independently interpret and deliver results.
Ability to effectively work across levels and functions with both internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent problem-solving skills.

Princeton - NJ - US: $100,330 - $121,571 

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
