About the Role

As a Traveling Skilled Trades Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end coordination and execution of various skilled trades initiatives across multiple sites. Success in this position relies on your ability to lead teams, solve complex problems, and communicate effectively to ensure every project meets strict quality, safety, and budgetary requirements. We are looking for a professional who excels at managing field personnel and subcontractors while maintaining a steadfast commitment to operational excellence.

Our Expectations

Project Management & Execution

Oversee the entire lifecycle of skilled trades projects, from initial planning stages through final project closeout.
Create and manage comprehensive schedules and financial forecasts to ensure project success.
Help maintain a safe and compliant working environment by ensuring all tasks align with design specifications and regulatory standards.
Direct daily operations on-site, managing the allocation of labor, materials, and subcontractor efforts.

Client & Stakeholder Communication

Act as the primary liaison for clients to foster professional relationships and ensure high levels of satisfaction.
Facilitate regular status meetings to keep clients, engineering teams, and leadership informed of progress.
Manage project documentation, including RFIs and change orders, with professional accuracy and efficiency.

Team Leadership

Supervise on-site personnel and subcontractors to ensure their output aligns with our quality standards.
Support the professional development of field staff to help build a more capable and cohesive team.
Work alongside internal departments to ensure site culture remains positive and fully compliant with company policies.

Financial & Administrative Management

Track labor hours, material costs, and overall job expenses to ensure project profitability.
Review invoices and purchase orders while assisting in the negotiation process with vendors.
Generate detailed performance reports and financial forecasts for executive review.

Safety & Compliance

Promote a culture of safety by enforcing company policies and conducting regular site inspections.
Partner with the Safety Department to ensure all operations meet OSHA and internal safety benchmarks.
Facilitate corrective action plans and post-incident reviews to improve future site safety.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
At least 5–7 years of experience managing projects within the skilled trades sector, such as millwright, electrical, or mechanical work.
A proven history of successfully overseeing large-scale commercial or industrial projects across multiple locations.
Proficiency in utilizing project management tools like Procore or Microsoft Project.
Deep understanding of job costing, estimating, and construction documentation.
Strong negotiation, leadership, and communication abilities.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Willingness to travel 75–90% of the time to various customer locations for both short-term and long-term assignments.
Flexibility to travel on short notice and work extended hours during critical project phases.

Physical Demands

Ability to perform duties on active construction sites, including exposure to noise and outdoor conditions.
Capacity to walk and stand for long periods, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
