Thatcher Foundations Inc., a specialty geotechnical and marine contractor in the greater Chicago area, has an immediate opening for a experienced CAD Designer. Thatcher has provided engineered geo-structural solutions in the Midwest since 1946. Our services include deep foundations, earth retention systems, and marine construction.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Civil Structural CAD Technician located in Gary, IN. The role involves collaborating with engineers and architects to design and draft detailed drawings using CAD software, ensuring compliance with industry and company standards, and participating in project meetings and site visits.

Qualifications

Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
Knowledge of reading structural and civil engineering drawings.
Associate Degree or equivalent certification from accredited program in Computer Aided Drafting/Design or relevant experience.
5+ years of experience in drafting.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and problem-solving skills. Willingness to learn and develop drafting skills with aptitude to take on increasingly difficult drafting projects.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly.
Knowledgeable with ancillary software such as Microsoft Office and Bluebeam
Ability to communicate ideas both within the company and externally to clients
This is a on-site only position

The CAD Technician’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Complete accurate construction drawings for deep foundation, earth retention, and marine projects.
Work closely with engineering team for design purposes. Assist project teams/field operations with drawings and sketches for building purposes.
Derive and understand relevant information from existing construction documents for generation of new construction drawings.
Maintain high levels of efficiency and productivity to consistently deliver projects on schedule.
Self-starter who is conscientious and willing to be a team player.
