Full Job Description

Job Title: Senior Software Engineer – Cloud
Job Type: W2 Contract (18 months, with possible extension and conversion)
Location: Onsite – Chesterfield, MO 63017
Rate: DOE (W2 only – no C2C, no third-party referrals)

Important:

Must be local to Chesterfield, MO — no relocation offered
Must be able to convert to full-time if extended — no future sponsorship will be provided

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a cloud-first actuarial software development team. This role involves designing, building, deploying, and supporting modern API-based web applications and services. The ideal candidate has strong technical experience across the full stack, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to contribute individually as well as lead technical discussions and mentor team members.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable API-based systems with a cloud-first approach
Support, maintain, and modernize legacy actuarial platforms as needed
Work across the full development stack including frontend frameworks, databases, container orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code
Apply Test-Driven Development and CI/CD best practices
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software
Mentor junior developers and contribute to code reviews
Continuously seek and implement process and codebase improvements
Manage individual workload and timelines independently
Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

10–12+ years of software development experience
Experience building full stack cloud-native applications
Strong proficiency with:
Node.js
React
Terraform
AWS and/or Azure
Docker / Linux Containers and orchestration (ECS, Fargate)
SQL (Oracle) and NoSQL databases
Familiarity with multiple programming languages and frameworks
Experience with containerization and deployment pipelines
Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and version control

Preferred / Nice to Have:

C# / .NET
Groovy, Python, or Shell scripting
Angular
AWS Certifications
Advanced knowledge of SDLC processes and Agile methodologies

Soft Skills:

Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership
Fluent in written and spoken English
Willingness to challenge the status quo and bring innovative ideas
Capable of mentoring and leading engineering efforts

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $70.00 - $80.00 per hour
