Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating timely reimbursement from insurance providers. This role requires a strong understanding of medical coding systems, billing procedures, and medical records management. The Medical Billing Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining the financial health of our practice while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Candidates should possess excellent organizational skills, proficiency with EMR/EHR systems, and a solid knowledge of medical terminology and coding standards.

Responsibilities

Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards.
Review and verify patient medical records for completeness and accuracy before billing.
Ensure proper documentation of procedures and diagnoses to support billing claims.
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective collection strategies.
Maintain detailed records of billing activities and patient accounts within EMR/EHR systems.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies.
Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding guidelines, and insurance policies.
Assist in resolving billing inquiries from patients and insurance companies promptly and professionally.

Experience

Prior experience in medical billing or coding is required, with familiarity in handling ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, and DRG classifications.
Knowledge of medical office procedures, medical terminology, and medical records management is essential.
Experience working with EMR/EHR systems is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of medical collection processes and insurance claim procedures is advantageous.
Proven ability to work efficiently under deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the operational success of our healthcare facility while utilizing your expertise in medical billing and coding practices.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
