About This Job

As an MRI Tech, you play a critical role in diagnostic imaging, directly impacting patient care and treatment. You operate advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images, providing essential information to physicians for accurate diagnoses. Your expertise ensures a safe, comfortable, and efficient experience for every patient, contributing significantly to our healthcare team's mission.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures, following established protocols to acquire diagnostic images.
Provides exceptional Patient Care, explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the examination.
Achieves optimal Image Acquisition by selecting appropriate scanning parameters and sequences, ensuring high-quality and artifact-free images.
Applies in-depth knowledge of Cross-sectional Anatomy to accurately position patients and acquire images that clearly demonstrate relevant anatomical structures.
Maintains rigorous Patient Safety standards by thoroughly screening patients for contraindications, monitoring vital signs, and adhering to all safety protocols in the MRI environment.
Manages and archives patient images efficiently using PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).
Utilizes accurate Medical Terminology in all documentation, communication, and reporting.
Performs Contrast Media Administration safely and effectively, following physician orders and departmental guidelines.
Executes Venipuncture skillfully for the administration of contrast agents when required.
Ensures precise Patient Positioning for each examination, optimizing image quality and minimizing discomfort.

Required Qualifications

Education

Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year of experience performing MRI scans in a clinical setting.

Knowledge/Skills

Proficiency in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) principles, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
Strong skills in Patient Care, including communication, empathy, and managing patient anxiety.
Expertise in Image Acquisition techniques and optimizing image quality.
Comprehensive understanding of Cross-sectional Anatomy relevant to MRI.
Thorough knowledge of Patient Safety practices within an MRI environment, including screening for ferromagnetic objects and implants.
Competency in using PACS for image review, manipulation, and archiving.
Solid grasp of Medical Terminology for accurate documentation and communication.
Ability to perform Contrast Media Administration safely, including recognizing and responding to adverse reactions.
Skilled in performing Venipuncture for intravenous access.
Adept at precise Patient Positioning for various MRI examinations.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced certification in MRI (e.g., ARRT (MR)).
Experience with multiple MRI scanner platforms.

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions

Ability to stand, walk, and move frequently for extended periods.
Capable of lifting and positioning patients, often requiring assistance, up to 50 pounds.
Possesses manual dexterity for operating equipment and performing venipuncture.
Works in an environment with strong magnetic fields, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols.
May be exposed to infectious diseases and hazardous materials, requiring proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
