Full Job Description

Education and Experience

Individuals providing services must meet all the following requirements:

1. Education: Must have graduated high school and been awarded a high school diploma, or its equivalent.

2. Experience: Experience specialized experience includes filling prescriptions, distributing pharmaceuticals, and utilizing pharmacy-based computer systems, and may have been gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories.

3. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross

Examples of positions and programs that may have provided an individual sufficient experience include:

a certified nursing assistant program
a medical assistant program
a certified pharmacy technician program
a vocational nursing program
a paramedic training program

Evidence of program accreditation by an appropriate accrediting body (as applicable) as well as program completion are required. The applicant is required to successfully demonstrate initial competence to administer medications, and on-going competence in administration of medications as required. If the applicant is a licensed vocational nurse, emergency medical technician, or certified pharmacy technician, valid certification/licensure (as appropriate) to practice in any state within the United States must be maintained. The individual must possess proof of their current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration.

Preferred qualifications and experience include:

1. Experience in providing healthcare in a correctional setting

2. Additional professional education and certifications

The candidate shall provide a resume and any requested documentation, along with a copy of all diplomas and/or certificates to support the employee’s stated qualifications.

Schedule

The work schedule shall not exceed 32 sessions per week, whereby one session equals one hour of service. Annual sessions shall not exceed 1664. The weekly schedule will normally consist of either four 8-hour workdays (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) or five 6-hour workdays, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. Work hours will normally be between 0600 and 1430, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The number of sessions per week and the session hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution.

Pay: $19.93 - $25.02 per hour
