POSITION SUMMARY:
The President is responsible and accountable to the Board of Directors to lead the Dalhart Chamber of Commerce. This position will promote the prosperity and growth of its members and the civic, commercial, and agricultural interests of the community and businesses.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:
· Oversee the general finances of the Chamber of Commerce
· With approval of the Finance Committee of the board, develop an annual budget for the Chamber’s operations that delineates projected revenues and expenses and a projected net profit as appropriate.
· Lead, direct, and develop the Chamber’s fund-raising strategies and capital campaigns.
· Monitor Chamber’s fiscal condition.
· Work with Board of Directors on monthly bills & payments.
· Maintain payroll
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT:
· Oversee the management of the chamber staff, including hiring, firing, performance reviews, salary and benefits administration, policy, and general supervision.
· Promote a working environment of excellence. Build accountability into the office.
· Create a business practice that will ensure a full visitor center for the Dalhart Chamber of Commerce and the community.
· Expand tourism related to businesses and attractions in the area
· Day-to-day operations, including building status, management of programs, and marketing efforts.
EDUCATION:
· HS diploma.
· What would put you ahead: BS in general studies, administration, marketing, or equivalent experience.
GENERAL DUTIES:
· Membership
o Establish, maintain, and build on membership
o Promote all businesses that are members of the Chamber
o Ensure retention of members
o Establish a protocol for welcoming new businesses
o Build true benefits for membership
· Public Relations
o Establish contacts and promote through local media
o Represent the Chamber at community events, meetings, and activities
o Develop and maintain local community members of Chamber events and activities through our own social media platforms
o Build partnerships with other organizations
· Develop Goals and long-range plans for the betterment of the Chamber and recommendations to the Board
o Work closely with board members (each board member is here for your benefit & guidance)
o Prepare agendas and materials for Board and Executive Committee Meetings
o Maintain open communication with the Board; bring issues to the Board in a timely manner
