Urban Beekeeper

Pay: $20.00–$28.00 per hour (based on experience)
Position Type: Part-Time (25–35 hours/week) with a clear path to Full-Time

What You'll DoHive Management
- Inspect, manage, and maintain honey bee colonies throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex
- Evaluate brood patterns, queen performance, food stores, and overall colony health
- Identify and treat pests and diseases using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) best practices
- Feed colonies when appropriate and perform seasonal hive management
- Perform colony splits, requeen hives, equalize colonies, and prepare colonies for seasonal transitions
- Capture and relocate swarms throughout the community when needed
- Maintain detailed inspection records using company technology and reporting systems
Honey Production & Processing
- Harvest premium raw Texas honey
- Extract, bottle, label, and package honey while following food safety standards
- Track production yields and inventory
- Assist with preparing customer and wholesale orders
- Help maintain our honey house, extraction equipment, and storage areas
Equipment & Operations
- Build, paint, repair, and maintain wooden hive equipment
- Load, unload, and transport colonies and equipment safely
- Operate company trucks, trailers, and specialized equipment, including the Hummer Bee when required
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in excellent condition
- Assist with warehouse organization and seasonal preparation
Community Engagement
One of the most rewarding parts of this position is sharing your passion for bees with others.
You'll help represent Oak Cliff Bee Company by:
- Speaking with clients during hive inspections
- Leading educational hive tours
- Assisting with honey tastings and corporate events
- Supporting school presentations and conservation programs
- Representing the company at farmers markets and community events
- Creating occasional social media content showcasing our work and our bees

Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years old
- Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record
- Reliable transportation to our Dallas office
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds repeatedly
- Comfortable working on rooftops, ladders, and elevated locations
- Comfortable working around active honey bee colonies
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, cold, and varying weather conditions
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following is a plus:
- One or more years of beekeeping experience
- Urban or commercial beekeeping
- Texas Master Beekeeper Program or other recognized certification (preferred, not required)
- Agriculture, horticulture, biology, environmental science, or ecology
- Construction, carpentry, woodworking, or painting
- Landscaping or irrigation
- Public speaking, education, or teaching
- Photography, videography, or social media
- Operating trailers, forklifts, compact equipment, or utility vehicles

Work Environment
- Primarily outdoor work throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex
- Rooftops, hotels, schools, corporate campuses, parks, and community gardens
- Exposure to active honey bee colonies and occasional bee stings
- Physical work involving lifting, bending, climbing, and transporting equipment
- Flexible schedule with occasional evenings, weekends, and emergency swarm removals
- Approximately 25% travel throughout North Texas
Location: Dallas, Texas
This is a field-based position. While administrative work may occasionally be completed from home, most of your time will be spent working at apiaries throughout North Texas.
