The City of Plano is seeking an experienced and highly organized Executive Assistant to provide exceptional administrative and operational support within the City Manager’s Office for our elected officials. This position works closely with the City Manager, Deputy City Managers, Mayor, and City Councilmembers, providing day-to-day support and helping ensure the office operates efficiently and professionally.

Working in the City Manager’s Office offers a unique opportunity to gain broad insight into municipal government and the many services provided by the City of Plano. This is a fast-paced, highly visible environment where priorities can change quickly and where professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, and attention to detail are essential.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working with elected officials, executive leadership, department directors, community members, and other key stakeholders. The ability to remain poised, calm, and professional in high-profile or demanding situations is essential. The ideal candidate is confident without being overbearing, responsive without being reactive, and able to anticipate needs while maintaining appropriate discretion and boundaries

This role requires someone who is calm and poised when working with elected officials, executives, public figures, employees, and members of the community, with the maturity, discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgment to navigate sensitive situations with confidence. You will manage multiple calendars, competing priorities, deadlines, meetings, and last-minute changes, often anticipating what needs to happen before being asked.

The right person is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and solutions-focused, but also understands when to listen, ask questions, and exercise good judgment. Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build positive professional relationships and respond to citizen and staff inquiries with patience, tact, and professionalism. You will be an important part of a small, close-knit team where collaboration, reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to pitch in are valued.

Strong administrative calendaring and computer skills, excellent writing and proofreading abilities are essential for success.

Additional Information

Normal working hours Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM, however some after hour work or weekend work may be required responding to calls and emails. This position may occasionally be required to assist with or attend events scheduled after 5:00 p.m.
