Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Hygiene Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will support the delivery of exceptional patient care by maintaining the highest standards of infection prevention, sterilization, and clinical hygiene practices. Your proactive approach will ensure a safe, clean, and efficient environment for both patients and staff. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills within a fast-paced healthcare setting while contributing to the overall success of our dental practice.

Duties

Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to dental sterilization procedures.
Assist with chairside duties during various dental procedures, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and ensuring accurate documentation using patient management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse, to support comprehensive patient assessments.
Support infection prevention management by adhering to clinical confidentiality policies, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards aligned with HIPAA regulations.
Operate dental x-ray machines for intraoral and extraoral imaging while maintaining safety protocols for radiation exposure.
Assist with medical imaging procedures and ensure proper handling of medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by following infection control protocols and ensuring all dental equipment is properly sterilized and stored.
Collaborate with the dental team to provide excellent patient care through effective communication and support during procedures such as oral surgery or endodontic treatments.
Support the use of advanced technology including 3D scanners and other dental equipment to enhance diagnostic accuracy.

Experience

Previous experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Dentrix Ascend is advantageous.
Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and clinical confidentiality policies is essential.
Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and aseptic technique is required.
Demonstrated ability to operate dental x-ray machines and handle medical imaging equipment safely.
Strong understanding of general dentistry procedures, pediatric dentistry considerations, pediatric dentistry is desirable.
Excellent organizational skills combined with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
