Director of Estimating & Commercial Strategy

Platinum Press | Fort Worth, TX (On-site) | Full-time

Position Summary

Platinum Press seeks a Director of Estimating & Commercial Strategy to lead the company’s pricing function and rebuild its estimating systems. Reporting to senior leadership, the Director will hold full accountability for how the organization prices work, evaluates opportunities, and drives gross margin performance across all product lines.

This is a strategic leadership role designed for an experienced estimating professional who has built or substantively improved estimating infrastructure within a print or packaging manufacturing environment. The position offers significant influence over commercial outcomes and a direct line to executive decision-making.

Platinum Press is a pharmaceutical packaging and print manufacturer specializing in inserts, cartons, labels, and expanded content labels (ECL). The company operates offset, flexographic, and digital print platforms with a sustained commitment to quality, throughput, and regulatory compliance.

Platinum Press is undertaking a strategic transformation focused on pricing discipline, operational throughput, and gross margin expansion. The Director of Estimating & Commercial Strategy will be central to that initiative.

Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating Leadership

Direct all estimating and quoting activity across inserts, cartons, labels, and ECL product lines.
Establish standardized pricing models that align with verified production capabilities.
Ensure quotes consistently meet established margin targets and strategic objectives.

Systems and Process Development

Rebuild and optimize estimating logic within ERP/CERM platforms and supporting Excel-based models.
Develop product-specific cost models for each major product category.
Implement consistent methodologies for makeready, run speeds, waste, and setup costs.

Financial Performance

Drive gross margin improvement toward defined company targets.
Conduct ongoing analysis of estimated versus actual performance and refine cost models accordingly.
Identify unprofitable work and implement corrective pricing strategies.

Operational Alignment

Collaborate with production, scheduling, and sales leadership to ensure estimates reflect operational realities.
Model production constraints and bottlenecks (folding, onserting, die cutting, and related processes) to inform accurate pricing.

Commercial Oversight

Serve as the organization’s authority on pricing discipline and margin governance.
Support the sales organization with data-driven pricing strategies and competitive analysis.
Balance market competitiveness with sustained profitability across the customer portfolio.

Qualifications

Minimum of ten (10) years of estimating experience within printing, packaging, or related manufacturing industries.
Comprehensive knowledge of offset, flexographic, and/or digital print processes.
Demonstrated experience designing or substantively rebuilding estimating systems, beyond routine system administration.
Strong financial acumen, including margin analysis, contribution modeling, and cost accounting principles.
Working proficiency with ERP systems (CERM strongly preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
Proven ability to lead organizational change and implement durable, structured processes.

The successful candidate will be capable of challenging assumptions constructively, partnering effectively across functions, and assuming accountability for measurable commercial outcomes.
