Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Abdominal Core Health Center at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) in Dallas. This is an outstanding opportunity to become part of a highly specialized Abdominal Wall Reconstruction and General Surgery program that provides comprehensive care for patients with complex abdominal wall disorders, hernias, and advanced reconstructive surgical needs.
This position offers a primarily clinic-based practice with a strong emphasis on patient intake, comprehensive evaluations, care coordination, and longitudinal patient management. The role includes limited operative responsibilities, allowing providers to build meaningful patient relationships while collaborating closely with an experienced multidisciplinary surgical team.
The ideal candidate enjoys patient education, care coordination, and collaborative practice. New graduate Physician Assistants are encouraged to apply, particularly those with a strong interest in general surgery. Previous wound care experience is a plus but is not required.

Practice within a nationally recognized Abdominal Core Health Center

Support one General Surgeon specializing in abdominal wall reconstruction

Join an experienced team of three Advanced Practice Providers, including one part-time APP
-
Dedicated support from an Office Manager, four Medical Assistants, and additional clinical support staff

Schedule includes:

4 days per week in clinic
-
1 administrative day
-
Minimal first assist responsibilities
-
Occasional inpatient rounding and postoperative care
-
Potential for occasional coverage at other Baylor Scott & White campuses as needed
-
Excellent opportunity for new graduates interested in developing expertise in complex general surgery

Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, medical histories, and physical examinations for patients with abdominal wall disorders and general surgical conditions.
-
Conduct new patient intake visits, coordinate diagnostic workups, and develop evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising surgeon.

Provide preoperative education, postoperative follow-up, and long-term patient management.
-
Manage outpatient clinic visits while ensuring continuity of care throughout the surgical journey.
-
Coordinate multidisciplinary care with surgeons, nursing staff, wound care specialists, and ancillary services.

Participate in occasional inpatient rounding and hospital consultations.

Assist in the operating room as needed with minimal first assist responsibilities.
-
Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, and other clinical testing.

Perform procedures within the Physician Assistant scope of practice and delegated authority.

Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, wound management, and lifestyle modifications.

Maintain timely, accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.

Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to provide exceptional patient-centered care.

Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program

Current Texas Physician Assistant license

Current NCCPA certification
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire

Strong interest in General Surgery and Abdominal Wall Reconstruction

Previous clinical or surgical experience preferred but not required

Wound care experience is highly desirable
