Full Job Description

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and optimization of the organization's server infrastructure, Microsoft 365 environment, virtualization platforms, and legal discovery systems. This role combines traditional systems administration responsibilities with expertise in eDiscovery, litigation holds, data preservation, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing Microsoft technologies, VMware environments, and supporting legal and compliance teams during discovery and audit activities.

Systems Administration & Infrastructure

Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments.
Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity services.
Perform server deployments, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity planning.
Implement and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
Manage enterprise storage systems, file services, and backup platforms.
Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and coordinate resolution with vendors and internal teams.

Microsoft 365 Administration

Administer Microsoft 365 services including: Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, Entra ID (Azure Active Directory)

Manage user provisioning, licensing, security policies, and access controls.
Configure retention policies, compliance features, and security controls.

Legal Discovery & Compliance

Support legal and compliance teams with eDiscovery requests and investigations.
Administer Microsoft Purview eDiscovery environments.
Create and manage legal holds, retention policies, and content searches.
Collect, preserve, and export digital records in accordance with legal requirements.
Assist with regulatory audits, litigation requests, and internal investigations.
Maintain chain-of-custody documentation and evidence handling procedures.
Work with legal counsel to ensure compliance with discovery requirements and corporate record retention policies.

VMware Administration

Administer VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter environments.
Deploy and manage virtual machines and virtual infrastructure components.
Monitor resource utilization and optimize performance.
Perform upgrades, maintenance, backup validation, and disaster recovery testing.
Support high-availability and business continuity solutions.

Security & Operational Support

Apply security best practices across server and cloud environments.
Conduct vulnerability remediation and coordinate patch management efforts.
Manage system access reviews and privileged account administration.
Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and configuration records.
Participate in on-call support and incident response activities when required.

Requirements:

Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Or equivalent work experience.

Experience

5 - 8 years of experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
2 – 4 years of experience supporting legal discovery, compliance, records management, or litigation hold processes.
