Tax Manager | CPA Firm

McKinney, Texas

$125,000 to $150,000

As an experienced Tax Manager, you may have heard some version of this before:

“We see you as the future of the firm.”

What is often missing is any real explanation of what happens next.

There may be no clear expectations, no meaningful discussion around Partnership, and no certainty that taking on more responsibility will lead to anything beyond carrying more of the firm.

This independent CPA firm in McKinney TX is offering a more open conversation.

The firm is looking for a Tax Manager who wants to build toward Partner and understand what that path could involve from the beginning.

You will not be limited to reviewing returns and managing deadlines. You will work directly with leadership, remain close to clients, and gain greater exposure to how the wider practice operates.

Your judgment will matter, and your contribution will be visible.

What you will be doing

Manage a varied portfolio of individual and business clients.

Review tax engagements for individuals, partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, and other entities.

Lead client relationships throughout the year.

Provide practical tax guidance alongside compliance work.

Support planning and advisory projects with the leadership team.

Manage workflow, deadlines, communication, and engagement progress.

Coach junior accountants and help develop their technical skills and confidence.

Contribute to wider conversations around client service, team development, and firm growth.

What the firm is looking for

You will need five to eight years of public accounting tax experience and strong knowledge of both individual and business taxation.

A CPA or EA is required.

You should be comfortable managing client relationships independently, making sound decisions, and developing junior professionals.

The role will suit someone who wants to remain close to the technical work while also growing as a leader, adviser, and potential future owner.
