Overview
We are seeking a talented and dedicated Seamstress Tailor to join our vibrant fashion retail team. In this role, you will bring garments to life through expert sewing, alterations, and garment construction, ensuring each piece meets our high standards of quality and style. Your craftsmanship will help customers look and feel their best, whether they’re seeking custom apparel, alterations for everyday wear, or tailored pieces for special occasions. Responsibilities
- Perform clothing alterations and repairs with precision, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing garments to fit customer specifications
- Construct new garments from patterns using sewing machines and hand sewing techniques, ensuring proper fit and finish
- Operate pressing machines and press garments to achieve crisp seams and professional presentation
- Use fabric knowledge to select appropriate materials and techniques for different clothing types such as men's wear tailoring and women's wear tailoring
- Provide exceptional customer service by understanding client needs, offering style advice, and ensuring satisfaction with finished products
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace with well-maintained sewing equipment and pressing stations
- Follow garment construction procedures accurately, adhering to safety protocols when operating machinery
Requirements
- Proven experience in fashion retail or garment alteration services with a strong portfolio of completed projects
- Skilled in clothing alterations, garment sewing, hand sewing, and sewing machine operation
- Knowledge of fabric materials and their properties to ensure proper handling during construction and alterations
- Ability to operate pressing machines safely and efficiently for professional finishing touches
- Familiarity with men's wear tailoring, women's wear tailoring, and custom apparel production processes
- Strong stitching skills with attention to detail for high-quality garment construction
- Basic math skills for measurements, pattern adjustments, and fabric calculations
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude and clear communication abilities
