Functional Systems Lead — Inventory & Receiving

Location: Dalton, GA — On-site
Duration: 4-week contract, November 2026
Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday
Pay: $30–$40/hour, depending on experience
Travel: Up to $2,000 in accommodations may be available for qualified candidates who have a commute greater than 45 minutes

The Role

Go Green is building a new Operations Hub that connects our physical warehouse processes with our internal systems and Epicor ERP.

We are assembling a four-person Functional Systems Lead team for an intensive real-world implementation period in November.

As the Functional Systems Lead for Inventory & Receiving, you will embed directly with the employees responsible for receiving and inventory.

You will spend significant time where the work actually happens: observing incoming materials, pallets, weights, labels, barcode scanning, inventory locations, material consumption and returns, and inventory reconciliation.

The initial software will already exist. Your responsibility is to determine whether it actually works when exposed to the complexity of a real warehouse.

What You’ll Do

Learn our receiving and inventory workflows directly from warehouse employees.
Work alongside the people receiving and managing physical inventory.
Test the Operations Hub during actual warehouse activity.
Observe how pallets, materials, bins, weights, labels, and inventory movements are handled.
Find edge cases that were not captured during initial process discovery.
Identify tribal knowledge that employees may not initially think to document.
Investigate discrepancies between expected workflows and actual behavior.
Test failure conditions and unusual scenarios.
Identify usability problems that could cause employees to avoid or misuse the system.
Clearly document findings and supervisor feedback.
Participate in the daily Functional Systems Lead debrief with the Senior Systems Engineer.
Retest software changes as they are released.
Own the successful real-world validation of the Inventory & Receiving areas of the system.

Technical Background

Some experience with software development, QA, automation, systems implementation or ERP systems is strongly preferred.

Experience using both traditional programming methods and modern AI-assisted development tools is especially valuable.

You will not be expected to architect the system or spend the month writing application code. Your primary responsibility is making sure the system works correctly in the real operation.

Especially Valuable Experience

We would be particularly interested in candidates with previous experience involving:

Warehouses
Inventory management
Receiving
Forklifts or material handling
Logistics
ERP or WMS systems
Barcode/scanning systems
Manufacturing
Supply chain
Software QA or implementation

Previous non-technical work experience is considered an asset, not a detour from your career.

As someone who will be intimately familiar with Go Green’s manufacturing processes and methods, you will be required to sign an agreement that you will not work at a similar turf manufacturing facility for 2 years.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
