Plant Manager – Laminate Manufacturing Development

Job Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced manufacturing leader to support the development and future operation of a new laminate flooring manufacturing initiative. This position will play a critical role during the early development phase by providing technical expertise, supporting facility and process planning, evaluating manufacturing requirements, and helping establish the foundation for successful plant operations.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in laminate flooring or related hard surface manufacturing environments, with a strong understanding of production processes, equipment, plant startup activities, quality systems, safety requirements, and operational leadership.

This position requires a local candidate who can work onsite and collaborate closely with executive leadership, external consultants, engineering partners, suppliers, and future plant teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the development and implementation of a laminate flooring manufacturing operation from planning through startup and ongoing operations.
Collaborate with executive leadership and external consultants to evaluate manufacturing requirements, facility needs, equipment selection, process design, and operational strategy.
Provide technical expertise regarding laminate flooring production processes, raw materials, manufacturing equipment, quality standards, and industry best practices.
Assist with facility layout planning, equipment installation coordination, production flow optimization, and operational readiness activities.
Evaluate manufacturing capabilities, staffing requirements, production processes, and operational risks.
Support identification and development of suppliers, vendors, contractors, and technical partners.
Establish and implement plant operating procedures, production standards, safety practices, and quality control processes.
Develop plans for staffing, training, maintenance, production scheduling, and continuous improvement.
Lead plant operations following startup, including production performance, employee development, safety, quality, cost management, and operational efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including executive leadership, finance, sourcing, quality, engineering, and supply chain.
Provide recommendations and updates regarding operational progress, challenges, risks, and opportunities.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Skills:

Strong technical knowledge of laminate flooring manufacturing processes and production operations.
Demonstrated experience with plant startup, expansion, relocation, or major manufacturing improvement projects.
Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, production flow, maintenance requirements, and process optimization.
Ability to evaluate technical information, identify operational challenges, and develop practical solutions.
Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
Ability to establish processes, procedures, and accountability within a developing manufacturing environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to collaborate effectively with executives, consultants, vendors, and employees.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
Significant experience in laminate flooring, engineered wood, panel products, or related manufacturing industries preferred.
Experience managing plant operations, production teams, and manufacturing processes.
Experience supporting new facility development, plant commissioning, or major capital projects strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout production and warehouse areas for extended periods.
Ability to comply with applicable safety requirements and wear required personal protective equipment.
Ability to travel occasionally as needed.
