Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Freelance Spanish Interpreter to join our team. This role offers flexible, remote opportunities for bilingual professionals passionate about bridging language barriers and facilitating effective communication across diverse settings. As a Freelance Spanish Interpreter, you will provide accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation services in medical, social work, legal, and community contexts. Your expertise will help ensure that clients receive the highest quality care and support while maintaining strict adherence to confidentiality and professional ethics. This position is ideal for motivated individuals eager to make a meaningful impact through language services on a flexible schedule.

Duties

Provide real-time interpretation services in Spanish and English in an in-person settings.
Translate medical terminology accurately for healthcare providers, patients, and social service agencies to ensure clear understanding of diagnoses, treatment plans, and medical records.
Facilitate cross-cultural communication by applying clinical cultural competency standards and ensuring adherence to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality.
Support hospital staff, social workers, child protective services, and legal professionals by interpreting complex conversations with professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
Review medical documentation, records, and reports to ensure accuracy in translation and compliance with clinical ethical guidelines.
Maintain detailed documentation of interpreted sessions while respecting clinical confidentiality policies.
Achieve HIPAA compliance consistently by following strict protocols for patient information security during all interpretation activities.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills to effectively convey messages between Spanish-speaking clients and English-speaking professionals.
Uphold professional ethics by adhering to industry standards for interpretation quality, confidentiality, and impartiality at all times.

Experience

Proven experience as a multilingual interpreter with specialization in medical interpretation or healthcare settings.
Familiarity with translating medical terminology accurately within clinical environments such as hospitals or clinics.
Experience with in-person interpretation preferred.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and medical records review processes required.
Strong understanding of cross-cultural communication practices aligned with clinical cultural competency standards.
Background working with social work agencies, child protective services, or hospital teams is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English; additional multilingual capabilities are a plus.
