Overview

We are seeking a talented and energetic Seamstress Tailor Sewist Alterations Specialist to join our dynamic fashion retail team. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for clothing alterations, garment construction, and custom tailoring, ensuring every piece fits perfectly and meets our high standards of quality. Your passion for fashion, attention to detail, and sewing expertise will help customers look and feel their best. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where craftsmanship and customer satisfaction are at the forefront.

Responsibilities

Perform clothing alterations, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing garments for a perfect fit
Construct garments from scratch or modify existing pieces with precision sewing techniques
Operate pressing machines and press garments to achieve crisp finishes and professional presentation
Use hand sewing skills for delicate repairs or detailed embellishments as needed
Manage garment sewing using various sewing machines, ensuring consistent stitch quality and durability
Communicate effectively with customers to understand their tailoring needs and provide expert advice on fabric materials and fit options
Maintain a clean, organized workspace while adhering to safety protocols for press operation and sewing equipment

Skills

Proven experience in fashion retail, clothing alterations, or garment sewing with a strong understanding of garment construction
Skilled in pressing machine operation, hand sewing, and sewing machine techniques for diverse fabrics such as cotton, silk, wool, and synthetics
Knowledge of fabric materials and their properties to select appropriate stitching methods and finishing techniques
Ability to perform men's wear tailoring
Strong customer service skills to assist clients with fitting adjustments and style recommendations
Basic math skills for measuring, pattern adjustments, and calculating fabric requirements
Familiarity with garment finishing techniques including pressing, seam finishing, and stitch quality control
