Job Summary:
Early Learning Coach (ELC) will promote and support the growth of assigned education staff through Practice-Based Coaching (PBC), thereby enhancing the quality of programming children and families receive. The ELC is primarily responsible for the coaching of those HS/EHS teachers in which require intensive coaching.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- In partnership with teachers, the ELC will develop an individual coaching plan with outlined action steps.
- Complete focused observations of teachers based on their individual coaching plan and goals.
- Implement adult learning practices/strategies to support the teacher and facilitate reflective processing during scheduled coaching sessions.
- Maintain ongoing communication with program directors to ensure coordinated efforts to support professional development of the teacher.
- Train and orient teachers on best practices and provide resources to develop and enhance skills.
- Research and identify staff development opportunities.
- Participate in the annual HS/EHS Self-Assessment process.
- Conducts ITERS/ECERS observations of classrooms
- Aggregates and analyzes data (i.e. PBC data, etc.)
- Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
RECORD KEEPING AND REPORTING
- Maintain confidential, accurate, and up-to-date coaching records and coaching files for those teachers receiving coaching from the ELC.
- Complete monthly reports on service area activities and progress towards goals with recommended modifications to plans; submit as scheduled.
- Track and document teacher progress along each step of the coaching period/cycle.
- Protect the privacy of families and staff and hold in confidence all information obtained throughout the course of service.
- Submit weekly field schedule.
- File paperwork, as assigned, in children’s central files (i.e. home visit documentation, parent-teacher conferences, etc.)
- Complete file reviews of children’s records as assigned.
GENERAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead for the good of the entire organization, understand the big picture, and use it as a framework to make decisions.
- Make decisions that support program quality and maintain program accountability.
- Uphold the shared values of GRECS, Inc.
- Attend all scheduled team meetings.
- Complete a minimum of 15 clock hours of professional development per year.
- Attend trainings to keep up with PBC trends and the various instruments and tools used by the program.
- Adhere to scheduled work hours as required.
Requirements:
- BA/BS degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with a minimum of 2 years of early education teaching experience.
- Practice-Based Coaching training must be completed as soon as possible after hire.
- Experience in group facilitation towards a common goal and/or experience supporting staff in meeting individual goals.
- Experience working in low-income diverse communities preferred.
- A commitment to GRECS Mission Statement.
- Ability to interact positively with co-workers and clients in a non-judgmental, tactful, and courteous manner.
- Demonstrate a strength-based approach in working with GRECS staff, EHS child care partners, and children and families.
- Ability to apply soft skills such as positive thinking, flexibility, resourcefulness, problem-solving, team playing, reliability/dependability, preciseness, etc. in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the efficient operation of the agency.
- Possess a passion for achieving positive child and family outcomes through high-quality program services.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Environmental/Physical Conditions:
- Use of a reliable personal vehicle.
- Maintain regular communication with Education Coach Lead (or as assigned) in regard to program issues and concerns.
- Safeguard confidentiality in accordance with program policies and procedures.
- Ability to tolerate all climate conditions and navigate service area.
- Ability to sit long periods of time with bending and reaching.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend periodically.
- Ability to sit on floor for long periods to engage with infants and toddlers in order to meet their developing needs.
- Ability to engage in repetitive movement of wrists, hands, and fingers - typing and/or writing.
- Ability to work frequently at close visual range (i.e. preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading).
- Ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
