Your role at Baxter:
In this role you will perform Reimbursement Specialist duties for assigned territory or payer(s) including eligibility and benefit verification, documentation collection, prior authorization and reauthorization submissions, letter of agreement payment negotiations, and processing payer decisions. As the Reimbursement Specialist you will communicate directly with patients, healthcare teams, and insurance companies as well as collaborating cross-functionally with teams to coordinate in our mission of enhancing outcomes for patients and their caregivers.
This is a full-time hybrid position where the candidate would report to the office three days a week, Monday through Friday. The hours of operation are 8:00am-4:30pm CST.
Verify patient eligibility, benefits, coverage, and payer requirements to support reimbursement and claims processing.
Accurately load and maintain benefit information to minimize rework and ensure clean claim submission.
Review and obtain clinical documentation to validate medical necessity and ensure compliance with prescription, face-to-face, and coverage criteria requirements.
Prepare, submit, and track prior authorization requests with commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers.
Process authorization determinations in a timely manner to support efficient reimbursement and revenue cycle performance.
Negotiate Letters of Agreement (LOAs) and payment rates to maximize reimbursement opportunities.
Provide exceptional customer service by educating patients and healthcare teams on coverage criteria, payer policies, benefit limitations, costs, and product information.
Ensure compliance with Baxter policies, payer regulations, licensure requirements, audits, order processing, and healthcare provider documentation standards.
3+ years of industry experience, preferably in health insurance and/or durable medical equipment
Third party payer experience strongly preferred.
Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communications
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Detail orientated and ability to multi-task.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Possess the ability to manage time and prioritize critical priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software
Experience with Total Information Management System (TIMS) a benefit.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $44,800-$61,600 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
