Assistant Director of Security
Dataw Island Club – Dataw Island, Beaufort, SC
Dataw Island Club is seeking a professional, service-oriented Assistant Director of Security to assist in leading our Security Department. This position works closely with the Director of Security to help ensure the safety and security of our residents, members, guests, employees, and property while maintaining the high level of customer service that Dataw Island is known for.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced security professional with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Security, the Assistant Director of Security assists with the planning, coordination, and daily operation of the Security Department. The successful candidate will help supervise Security Officers, implement security and safety programs, respond to emergencies, investigate incidents, and ensure professional service to residents and members.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing security and safety programs.
- Help recruit, interview, train, schedule, and supervise full-time and part-time Security Officers.
- Maintain staffing schedules to ensure adequate security coverage.
- Review daily activity logs, incident reports, and security documentation.
- Investigate accidents, security breaches, and safety concerns, recommending corrective action as needed.
- Monitor security alarm systems and oversee front gate operations.
- Ensure proper contractor access procedures and gate pass issuance.
- Welcome new residents by introducing them to Dataw Island's security services and procedures.
- Respond professionally to resident, member, and guest requests.
- Perform routine Security Officer duties as needed, including: gatehouse operations, selling and issuing gate passes. property patrols and alarm response and investigations.
- Coordinating with law enforcement and emergency responders.
- Issuing warnings and citations for rule violations
- Order uniforms and departmental supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a related field preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergency situations.
- Excellent organizational and report-writing abilities.
- Proficiency with computers and security reporting systems.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins as needed.
