Part-TimeOvernight Shifts In Family's Home
As an overnight newborn care provider with Let Mommy Sleep, you work independently, in a private home, during the hours when families are most vulnerable and most in need of someone they can trust completely.
If you have a background in mother-baby care, labor and delivery, neonatal nursing, or pediatrics and you are looking for flexible contract work that puts your clinical skills to purposeful use — this may be exactly what you have been looking for.
About the agency
Let Mommy Sleep has provided professional overnight newborn care to families nationwide since 2010. We operate at a clinical standard — evidence-based care, rigorous safe sleep compliance, and thorough documentation are non-negotiable expectations at every shift. The RNs we place are not functioning as general caregivers. They are the highest tier of specialist we place, and the families they work with reflect that distinction.
The work, in detail
Overnight shifts run typically around a 10pm to 6am time frame. You arrive prepared, you work the full night awake and engaged, and you leave a thorough record of everything that happened during the night. That is the baseline. What happens within the shift requires the kind of judgment that comes from real clinical experience — reading an infant's feeding patterns, identifying early signs of distress, adjusting a sleep routine when the family's plan isn't working, and communicating all of it to exhausted new parents in a way that informs without alarming.
Night-to-night care includes feeding (breastmilk, formula, or combination), soothing, diapering, sleep routine support, and ongoing newborn observation. You will also serve as an educational resource for parents — answering questions, normalizing the newborn experience, and reinforcing safe sleep and infant safety standards with confidence and consistency.
Domestic tasks, housekeeping, and care for older children are outside the scope of this role. You are there for the newborn — and for the clinical standard of care that the family is counting on.
Who this role is not designed for
We want to be straightforward, because your time matters. This position is not the right fit if any of the following apply:
- Your nursing experience does not include direct newborn, postpartum, or infant care
- You are seeking a role that permits rest periods or downtime during overnight hours
- You are not comfortable exercising independent clinical judgment without a team on-site
- You view safe sleep guidelines as a recommendation rather than a clinical standard
- You are looking for general home health, elder care, or pediatric nursing for older children
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure
- Current CPR and BLS certification
- Meaningful hands-on experience with newborns or infants in a clinical setting — mother-baby, labor and delivery, NICU, newborn nursery, or pediatric nursing strongly preferred
- Thorough, current knowledge of safe sleep guidelines and newborn safety protocols
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and make sound clinical decisions independently
- Clear, professional communication — written documentation and direct family interaction are both part of every shift
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and professional reference review
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Compliance with health and vaccination requirements for newborn care environments
Compensation
$44–$52 per hour, determined by licensure level, clinical specialty, and the depth of your newborn care experience. Pay is issued biweekly. You set your own availability — shifts are offered based on family need and caregiver schedule.
RNs contract with Let Mommy Sleep as independent contractors. Many of the nurses we work with carry existing positions elsewhere and take overnight contracts to supplement their schedule with flexible, high-value work. The structure is designed to accommodate that.
The right RN for this role knows the difference between a job and a standard of care. If yours is high, and if overnight newborn care fits the kind of work you want to be doing, we would like to hear from you.
All applications are reviewed. Qualified candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview.
