Summary
The Human Resources Generalist partners closely with Department Managers, leadership, and coworkers to provide hands-on support across all areas of HR. This role collaborates with regional leadership and corporate HR to drive recruiting, retention, onboarding, training, and coworker relations efforts that strengthen overall workforce performance, while maintaining compliance with company policies and employment laws. The ideal candidate is a bilingual, resourceful professional who is approachable, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where they can make a meaningful impact.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Human Resources Generalist will perform the following duties in a safe, productive, and effective manner:
- Assists Department Managers to meet staffing needs and ensure a standard New Hire Process is utilized for sourcing, filtering and acquiring talent including but not limited to:
- Using role descriptions to establish framework for hiring specifications
- Using the HR Applicant Tracking System to coordinate all facets related to meticulous hiring methods/interviews
- Processing CSRs
- Ensuring Regional Recruiters are notifying minority sources when openings are available to maximize diversity hiring efforts
- Initiating background and education checks when appropriate (office and management positions).
- Determines the level of onboarding needed
- Arranges for or ensures that Pre-Employment Drug Tests are done (Exact timing and methods may vary)
- Establishes frequency schedule for orientation classes that best suits needs of the Region
- Ensures that trained orienteers within region are conducting orientation classes that meet company expectations that include:
- Providing a welcoming atmosphere
- Organizing and processing materials (I-9’s, Record of Hire, PowerPoint Presentation, etc.) in an efficient and professional manner
- Directing new hires to appropriate resource(s) for information relating to Benefits. (Appropriate resources include HR Managers, Benefits Department Staff, and trained Benefits designers.)
- Coordinating with Learning, Safety, Scheduling, and Job Sites to ensure new hires attend IIF Workshops within the 90-Day Introductory Period.
- Contributes input for periodic updates to Program
- Addresses issues relating but not limited to the following:
- Benefits
- Performance Feedback
- Policies and procedures
- Co-worker relations
- Monitors the Five-Quarters Program for new Leads and Keys
- Makes visits to work sites to foster positive co-worker relations, enhance communications and support activities related to employment
- Advises and acts as HR support in disciplinary counseling situations
- Assists Regional HR Manager in conducting investigations where appropriate
- Ensures appropriate paperwork is completed
- Conducts exit interviews for voluntary separations
- Assists in tracking craft-worker turnover rate and identifies reasons for separations; identifies root cause of those who voluntarily quit
- Carries out open enrollment duties to ensure forms and support documents are completed and submitted to Corporate on time.
- Prepares and submits weekly subsistence
- Maintains co-worker list for VP to track craft performance feedback and pay history
- Provides job-site supervision with craft wage rates as requested
- Assists with the execution of 6-month rating and ranking of craft-workers
- Assists in planning company events
- Administers the performance appraisal process
- Assists HRIS Manager and Operations Managers with collecting and tracking Time-Off Benefits
- Ensures compliance of company drug testing program
- Works with hiring managers within area of responsibility to ensure diversity hiring and staffing
- Assists with gathering and providing information to HRIS Department related to compliance report requirements
- Assists Regional HR Manager with audits, labor charges, investigations, etc. as assigned
- Conducts EEO Compliance job site meetings as required for government-funded jobs
- Completes monthly DOES reporting
- Assists with the apprenticeship program
- Attends HR department staff meetings and participates in developing HR goals, objectives, and systems
- Provides input and feedback on progress related to established departmental goals
- Carries out special projects assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or related field and four (4) years of HR experience OR a Master’s degree in HR Management or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bilingual in both English and Spanish required
- Professional Certification in Human Resource Management (PHR or SPHR) preferred
- Prior experience in construction preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Exceptional ability to maintain confidentiality

Pay: $73,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
