CNC MACHINE OPERATOR / PROGRAMMER – HAAS CNC MACHINES

POSITION SUMMARY

Ginko Metal Works is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator / Programmer to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating Haas CNC machines to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on CNC machining experience and a strong working knowledge of G-code and M-code programming. This individual must be capable of independently setting up machines, selecting tooling, making program adjustments, and troubleshooting machining issues to maintain quality and production efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Set up and operate Haas CNC machining equipment.
Program and edit CNC programs using G-code and M-code.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and manufacturing specifications.
Perform machine setups, including workholding, fixtures, tooling, and tool offsets.
Establish and adjust work coordinate systems and machine offsets.
Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining parameters.
Perform first-piece inspections and verify parts meet drawing requirements.
Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and program-related issues.
Make program adjustments and machine corrections as necessary.
Monitor tool wear and replace or adjust tooling when required.
Maintain accurate production and job documentation.
Work with Engineering and Production personnel to improve manufacturability and machining processes.
Identify opportunities to reduce cycle times, improve tooling strategies, and increase machining efficiency.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Perform basic preventative maintenance and daily machine inspections.
Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous CNC machine operation and setup experience.
Experience operating Haas CNC machines preferred.
Working knowledge of G-code and M-code programming.
Ability to independently edit and troubleshoot CNC programs.
Strong blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation skills.
Understanding of machining tolerances and dimensional requirements.
Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, feeds, speeds, and machining principles.
Ability to perform machine and tooling offsets.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience programming Haas CNC mills and/or lathes.
Experience with Haas controls and conversational programming.
Experience creating CNC programs from engineering drawings or CAD models.
Knowledge of CAM programming software.
Experience machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals.
Experience in a precision manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
Understanding of GD&T principles.
Experience with process improvement and cycle-time reduction.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a hands-on CNC machinist who can take a job from drawing to finished part. This individual understands CNC programming, machine setup, tooling, and inspection and is comfortable making decisions on the shop floor.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, identifies problems before they impact production, and continuously looks for opportunities to improve machining processes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand and work around manufacturing equipment for extended periods.
Ability to lift and move materials, tooling, and components as required.
Ability to safely operate machinery and use standard manufacturing equipment.
Ability to perform repetitive manufacturing and inspection tasks.
